View Full Version : Email reply from Oleg 3.05 & BoB NEWS!

Hi Oleg has kindly responded to a request for news on 3.05 and bob, dont read to much into it its just a quick note and guide ,some news is better than no news...Keep it polite ladies & gents please.

Oleg Maddox

3.05 would be not early than in the end of the month I think.

There will be new planes and maps, etc...
However couple of maps for a merget install could be released a bit more early. Don't know exactly currently.

With the BoB all information at the moment is secret. We don't publish especially that to do not show some new ideas and quality of the product before some others will not release their own products. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just remeber and take in acount that we create the basis for the new flight sim series where everything will be of standards for the next 5-7 years quality http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif We plan to make great series of many fronts... with the feature to merge them all in future like we did as the first attempt with the Il-2 series as a sample and that to evaluate the market need for such an option...

This week we plan to post new development update with the current work for PF and FB+AEP+PF

We just moved in new office, posted the subject for the vacancies in our team (need more programmers and 3D/2D modellers working inside our team)... So I had not simply any possibility to post anything ....

At the same time we plan to stop support of third party modellers for the Il-2 series very soon....
1) Because we have already enough models to work with them for a very long time......
2) Because we need to switch our main forces for BoB series, as well as we like to offer for the third party to switch for BoB basis modelling as well as soon as we will be ready to give them samples. Of course we will select such third party modellers and we will very prefer these that already did a very-very good job for Il-2 series. We plan to offer to make such things, that could be included as some cool bonuses in BoB. For this we have a lot of ideas http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If that is true what he says, im happy, because now we've got a kinda confirmed answer, and then we all have to be patient...
I think that patch would be super, allthough i dont expect anything considering wingman AI since they cant improve that... now im just lookin forward to BoB, so until that is released, maybe Q1 2006? Im going to have a good time playing FB+AEP+PF and Brothers in Arms (Not a flight sim) and the BoB: Wings of Victory made by, some other developer, cant remember what they are called :-P at least its got 6DOF http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Not sure if we'll see torpedo bombers. I wonder if the B6N that they posted a shot of before is to become a flayble aircraft. That it might...that would redress a serious imbalance on the multiplayer side of things.

I think it is safe to assume we will get the Betty - and it can carry a torpedo.

Not off cariers, but at least it will give the japs a torp aircraft.

For all those who are saying that The BoB is not there cup of tea..( http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif LOL) This answers the whole issue in a nutshell and reminds us of why we are here and shows some of the newcomers why we have such faith in the quality of the products coming from 1C. We have seen the past so we can get a good idea about the future.. God willing of course.. so we dont get too bent when there are potholes along the way.... or missing segments of road..... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

So overall I am pleased with the email and looking forward to this product being viable for a long long time.... I think that even when BoB comes out and raises the bar this series will go down as a turning point for flight sims and I also think that the genre is hardly dead.

That's the rub, crazyivan. My initial reaction was that when someone usually posts an Oleg reply, they usually say that they cleared it through Oleg and OM said it was okay to post the reply. I know OM replies to everyone but maybe some of those were meant to be a "just between you and me" sort of reply and not to be announced to the rest of us.

But it's done now and so "oh well" is right. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It's got to happen sooner or later! Sooner means BoB arrives sooner to my way of thinking, as much as it seems like a bad thing right now

There's so much in the sim, I really have trouble understanding how folks just clamor for more more more...that has no bearing on the quantity of planes in PF by the way...it happened in FB well before PF was announced, it's happened in racing sims I used to play online. Didn't matter if 50 cars were available and you could change every aspect of each to suit your tastes, from crankshaft to con rods to rear end gear to tire size..it was just "more, more more"...and so variety won out over quality. Only the casual gamers win in that scenario, and when they get bored and leave, the folks that actually like it for what it is say...what happened to my game?! Well, the mouse that roared ruined it, that's what! Me, my attention span lasts for more than a week. I haven't even played all the stuff in FB that shipped with the sim yet, and I got it the day it was released.

Yes the B6N will be flyable once I am done with it. Yes this was assigned to me by Oleg and Ilya (Luthier). I am just trying to clarify some issue I have with this COMPLEX plane. Its not just a simple torpedo bomber, it more like a marriage between a A20 and a Dauntless with dorsal and ventral positions gun positions and a bomdadier as well as the pilot.

Nobody would have known about this because this whole project was done privately. You guys would not have known it until probably its accepted and coded if I did not ran into some issues with the plane's rear gunner and navigator positions.

PS: the post does sound like Oleg and yes like Gibbage's post Oleg does say if you cannot comment or post in the forum what you know or have been told.

Believe me I want this myself since I am sick of using the VAL to bomb CV's repeatedly and the HE111's are too big for most missions to handle! I am ALWAYS wishing for a japanese STUKA which can carry at least 500 pound bombs which the Jill would be able to since she carries up to 800 pounds.

Well it definately means we'll see a bunch of planes. There's quite a few projects ongoing that I know of (plus I'm sure many I don't) that are either finished now or nearing fruition to the point that it'd be silly to turn them down. I think that Oleg, like some of us (all of us?), loves aviation so any plane of historical value (no matter how big or small) is an interesting one to have!

Lots of goodness in the future I would think.

yep - for those who read with comprehension - even with Olegs poor english - there is good news all around..for both PF "lots of completed models already"... and for BoB "wanting to get 3rd party modelers with experience started on BoB projects now"...

so the only way to be unhappy is to misunderstand what the man said...

I haven't even played all the stuff in FB that shipped with the sim yet, and I got it the day it was released.

what is it about white english colonialists that they see the world as those countries that speak their lingo and those that dont?

i laughed out loud when i saw some goon that had as his quote that Oleg had mixed up some basic english sentences.

english can be a blessing, or a curse.

i regard it as my first language, not my last.

Well said Chuck.

In 25+ years of gaming this sim has had more support than most of the other games I've played put together. We have been spoilt rotten & still it's not enough for some. 3 years on & I still have not covered all the offline campaigns & add-ons. Then there's the 2-3 hours a night online.(not enough hours in the day)

I wonder if a lot of the critic's actually ever use this sim,but just come here to slate it because a lot of the time I think there playing a different sim to me.

Yes god forbid we each form our own opinions on the sim. Let's all have a hive mind. We shall be assimilated . http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Yeah Yeah Yeah...METRIC and ENGLISH and SI...geez...Nope I was not one of those who were using 'English units' and lost the BEAGLE 2 and another spacecraft on Mars because of using the wrong unit of measurement http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Be warned I can 'spray paint' stuff in the 'unseen' parts of a cockpit with unflattering comments to smart aleks!! LOL

Seriously, the actual units to use is 1C:MAddox's thing for the bomb that is...Mine is just how it is modeled and the 'SCALE used' issue so no danger there since its all points, triangles and polygons http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
