Hello!
The dedicated IL2 Server is written in Java, and i have played around a LOT with that thing but i cant get it running cause the devwelopers used natived dlls.

WHY, OH WHY would UBI code it with natove dlls and not ewven think about a Linux dedicated????????????
Its surely not more than a weeks work to port it from java to the linux plattform!!

And how can you contact UBI or write an email to the right person?
The development Teammust be a joke, too!

I am really annoyed about UBI to create such a fantastic game and then to fail with the dedicated server!!
SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teh game itself is not coded for anything other than Win so a dedicated for any other OS probably does not make sense

Lol, Sorry?
I think you dont even know what you are talking about.

I am about a dedicated server, which has nothing to do with the Client.
Look at all the successfull multiplayer games: HalfLife, UT2003, Bf1942, Enemy Terretory, Quake 3 Arena, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Unreal Tournament, etc..
They are Windows games too. But they do have a Linux dedicated because Windows suxx as a Server.
You can not ssh to it, you need a Desktop, u dont have shell, scripting, no Webinterface possible, etc...

Does anyone know a contact/feedback address for those UBI Soft Developpers?

Cheers, Mario

You said that to Hunter of all people /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

And yes you are right, a Linux server would be good. As a Windows server admin I think I am qualified to agree /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

You could try posting a politely phrased question (and please do be polite you are more likely to get a response) in <a href="http://forums.ubi.com/messages/overview.asp?name=Olegmaddoxreadyroom">Olegs Ready Room <a/
where you may even get a response from the 'Father' of IL2 Oleg Maddox himself - but do try not to whine he's seen enough of that already /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Sorry, you are right.
Just the sentence: "Teh game itself is not coded for anything other than Win..."
made me feel rahhhhh, since i kind of hate Windows.
Sorry again, i apologize for my language.
