run a good virus scan and spyware scan. If this only does this while you are online (Physically connected to the internet) then my bet is a worm and some malware.

A good online resource to use is http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Go through the online scan and see what it detects.

Remember that not all anti-spyware programs detect everything, and sometimes using several different programs is necessary to rid your computer from this junk. I use trendmicro's site in combination with Microsoft's AntiSpyware, Spyware blaster, and Adaware's antispyware programs. But every once in a while some still slipd through. (All of the above can be downloaded for free) And, it is best to run these scans in safe mode before the little buggers are front loaded into your system.

Also, stay off the porn and warez sites as they are probably the biggest propagators of malware. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If you have kids, tell them to stay off your gaming rig and play they XBox instead! Or just beat them regularly like I do. LOL

If i change DIRECT X to OPEN GL, would that help?

Anyway, yeah ill run some spyware scans.

Thanks for the reply.

No problem. And this game runs much better on OpenGL than DirectX. But I really doubt that is your problem.

Try the scan first, then see what happens. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And whoop them kids! It's the best way to a safer internet!

Switch to OpenGL.. as Fehler says, probably not the cause of this problem, but it should be better anyways.

So it doenst happen when you fly offline?

If none of that works consider a larger Power Supply.

I'm looking right now for a link for calculationg the size you need.

Here it is

Hmmm
Windows XPpro???
sounds like Billy Boy gates is crapping up,
What you could do and mustdo,is goto system then goto advanced settings and then goto recovering and rebbotings settings, dunno how they are called in english and make sure all the settings are disabled, like automatic rebooting and so on, you dont need that ****.
See if it works, it worked here cos when windows finds an error it reboots your PC, now it wont

Goodluck and hope it works
Ps dont know if Windows home has those settings but you will find it

So its Start> settings >config >system > advanced > restart and errors or so, its the tab at the bottom.
Whats the 9800 pro running at 9800 non pro speeds? have you flashed the bios to XT? or just overclocked it
keeps us informed lol

I ran into this same problem. Worked fine - but as soon as I hooked up to squaddies on multiplay or on HL I crashed.

In the end it was videocard burning out due to heat issues.

Don't know if it is the same for you - but as mentioned it has happened to me.

The same thing happens to me too! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
used to happen in PF standalone(online)...

happened for the first time in Merged(online) last night...
will run my spyware progs',has been a few days since i last scanned my pc.

my card isn't getting too hot,I stopped O/c it because the slightest workload(even moh:aa)was making its alarm sound.

hope the scans work,as it's a tad annoying ..

Funnily enough Noni,we were in the same server at the time! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

I have my PF folder on a seperate partition, and was getting reboots when things got graphic intensive (Usually just as I was lining up for a shot. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif). I also had LOMAC in the same partition, until after adding skins and creating screenshots, I finally started getting disk full messages. I deleted LOMAC (Hardly ever played it anyway) and suddenly, no more reboots. Do you have a good amount of space on the drive with your PF folder?

Sounds like heat to me, what are your specs and heat readings?

Download motherboard monitor and find out heat readings if you dont know. My KT400 had this problem until I got a new case with better cooling.

You should really post this in the Tech help forum.

oh boy, PF merged/ PF standalone is as unstable as possible here when going on the internet.

No mall/spy ware 100% sure, oc'd but if this thing can withstand 24hours of prime 95+ 3Dmark2005 I think it's safe to say it's stable.....

PF is just buggy here I feel. And no defenitly not heat problems or anything hardware alike.....

the comp is stable as hell on all other applications. + I have a SP97 aircooling, it rivals a good watercooling and never lets the core get over 50?C PSU is fine also...

just try and find out i'd say..

Well PSU can still be the cause. Are you sure of its Amperages, that page explains it.

Another thing though is alot of guys have to go into dxdiag and drop their sound hardware acceleration to Standard. You might try that aswell.

Before it reboots what dose the machine do, Stutter, screech bla bla.

I had similar experiences in past, but my PC just rebooted as if I pressed reset button on PC case.

I don't have such experiences for quite some time now.

Things that may cause reboots when playing. Power supply, overheating, drivers gpu and/or mobo. What graphical settings do you run while playing? Too high could cause stress on your system.

Frankly I'm surprised that no one has suggested posting your dxdiag in the Community Help/Technical Support Forum.

You might try that and see if the brains over there can find some sort of problem and/or solution.

Just a thought.

I am confused, are you his brother? Do you know his computer? Where did he say it was prime 95 stable?

I very much doubt a game would cause a system to reboot, unless it was a power or heat issue.

I can't see how it'd be the game - but check it by playing ANOTHER game with similar tax on graphics, CPU and network. Play online, so you know it's not a faulty network card (which is entirely possible - trust me).

I'm suspicious of your network card if you're talking about it only happening during online play.

But yeah, you should concentrating on making sure your computer is clean of viruses and adware first (I recommend AVG Virus Removal and AdAware - both free software). Then update to Windows XP Service Pack 2, and run all the Windows updates (will take some time).

This is the only way that you know some malware isn't finding a backdoor into your system and completely flooding your network traffic with extranneous data.

BTW, I'm not saying this is your problem but a couple of systems back, I had a problem with the game rebooting/hanging all the time while playing Sturmovik. Daftly didn't have ASUSprobe system monitor running.

Finally found out that it was my Graphics Card - A crappy Albatron card (Never, EVER buy one) - the fan had been faulty from the start, and was completely gummed up beyond use.

Much less likely to happen to your CPU fan (unless it's third-party - unlikely. Also, AMD fans are slightly more prone to failure than Intel...cheaper construction. Pretty negligible chance, though)

Happens to me some times to. Not when playing in the Game, but when the X-45 driver is loadet into memory and I am surfing on internett some inernet pages, not many, obvious has some comans that interfer with the driver.
I got the message, something like "driver conflict" and the coputer restarts..
I has no matter if the file for PF is loaded into the X45 drfiver ore not.

If I cloce down the x45 driver the problems seems to diapear.

There is no problem when playing and there is also no problem when surfing on this forum.

I believe mine was heat related. Too much junk (spyware etc.) on PC and more work besides FB - that my poor PC couldn't handle so it reboots. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I did not read it in any of the posts but I presume you are using WinXP.

Crazy fix #1
Did you try to got to WinXP START, settings, system, advanced, "Start and Recover" (I hope it is like that in English) and then deactivate the option "Automatically reboot" ?

I had your problem once, PC rebooting without blue screen.
As soon as I deactivated the "Automatically reboot" option I was not annoyed by it again.

Crazy fix #2
I have another crazy fix: I have one PC (P4 3,0GHz, NV6800GT, 550W PSU) that works correctly in IL2FB without reboots ONLY WHEN THE PC SIDE CASE IS OPEN !

Everybody would say that it is because of the heat! But there is no difference in PC temp, CPU temp or NVIDIA temp regardless whether the side case is open or not http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif Go find...
Anyway, with the side case open it works nicely so, I do not care.

I hope something helps...
