Hi all,

I have produced a pack contains 37 replacement Stukageshwader and 1 replacement Schlachtgeshwader unit emblems to display on 16 different in-game units and 22 additional units which you can substitute for in-game units using Il2-MAT's "squadrons" configuration facility.

I have edited the MAT files which load emblems for those supplied with FB to display the emblems at a more historically correct size as the emblems supplied with the game are displayed much too large. I have taken the opportunity to correct what I believe to be several historical innacuracies in the emblems supplied with the game.

The TGA files will unzip to a new sub-folder of your Regiments folder called "Stuka and Schlacht Geshwader Emblems" and the MAT files will unzip to a new sub-folder of your CoopRegt folder called "Stuka and Schlacht Geshwader Emblems". Copy the MAT files into you main CoopRegt folder and the TGA files into you main Regiments folder to use them.

These 16 MAT files will automatically overide any unit substitutions that you might have set up with IL2-MAT's squadrons configuration facility.

I agree. The emblems for the luftwaffe planes are too big. Are you considering doing some to correct the JG gruppen?

Sorry. I went to your website and I saw the emblems for the JG.

Thanks.

your instructions talk about a coopRegt folder. I don't have this folder in FB.

Please explain.

Leigh!

Sorry for disappearing without notice, but I badly needed a break from flightsims ... been playing them for too long now.

Hi Dragonheart,

Make a new folder in your FB folder called "CoopRegt" (automatically done with my earlier MAT/TGA file downloads) and copy over all of the MAT files into it. Also copy over the TGA files into your /PaintSchemes/Regiments folder.

Make sure that the IL2-MAT program is configured with the "custom markings location" path set to eg. C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\CoopRegt\

The file types to be copied needs to be set to MAT,

the path to the FB EXE needs to be wherever it is eg. C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\

and that IL2-FB is set to "active" via it's system tray icon. Then the new emblems will be displayed in place of their original counterparts.

Hope this helps,

Hi Christian,

NP m8, we all need a rest, I've been on the go with IL2/FB flying and creating for quite a while and know how it feels, I hope you didn't mind me pushing forward with the emblems as I wanted to get them out. I'd most welcome your opinions and input if there are any historical errors/sizing issues etc. as I've done my best to make things as accurate as possible.

Best Regards

Great Aces, They look so much cleaner and crisper then the ones in the game. Now only if we can change regiment positions and sizes.

Hi m8,

These emblems are re-sized in the MAT files to make them display appreciably smaller than the originals but the re-positioning is something that can't be accomplished because FB only has certain areas on a skin in which to display them. They can be "tweaked" a little up/down,left/right but that's it until FB allows more such locations.

Cheers and regards

Hi Aces: I am not sure it works. I tried to do the same with the Gruppe symbols TGA files in the paintschemes\regt folder MAT files in the il2sturmovikFb\coopRegt but I cannot select the gruppe markings in QMB or Campaign.
Do I have take all Mat files out of their respective folders and place them all in the coopRegt folder. Right now the symbols are all in their individual folders in the coopRegt folder,

Hi m8,

Yes, you must put ALL MATs into the main "CoopRegt" folder not sub-folders and ALL TGAs into "Regiments" folder again not sub-folders. IL2-MAT will load MATs from whatever folder you configure it to (I suggest CoopRegt) and the MATs themselves expect the TGAs to be in the "Regiments" folder.Any sub-folders of CoopRegt and Regiments are just there for convenience so that you can remove them from the main "CoopRegt" and "Regiments" folders should you wish and still have them somewhere where it is easy to copy them back.

To recap:

It works just fine please put ALL TGA's into your "REGIMENTS" folder and ALL MAT's into your "COOPREGT" folder.

The MAT files all look for the TGA files in your "Regiments" folder. The reason that some of my MATs and TGAs such as the unit emblem files unzip to sub folders of CoopRegt and Ragiments is so that you have a choice in using them by copying them to your main CoopRegt (MAT files) and Regiments (TGA files) folders.

If you setup IL2-MAT as per my previous e-mail then all will work fine. Please remember to only put MATs in "CoopRegt" folder and TGAs in "Regiments" folder.
If your TGA files aren't in the main "Regiments" folder then it won't work as the MATs are edited to look for them there. This is true of ALL MATs and TGAs irresepective of the type of graphic eg. plane number, emblem, marking etc.

Best Regards

Aces,

I have downloaded every MAT file you have ever done, and I just want to thank you for what I believe to be one of the best mods ever created for this simulation.

I can't wait until you release the new GUI for selecting the desired MATs...is there a definite release date yet?

Keep up the good work my friend http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

All the best, Don

Thanks chaps,

PEr_Gavran:

I'm not currently aware of any other ways of displaying the reduced size emblems other that using IL2-MAT but, hopefully, the IL2-MAT Manager program due for release in the next couple of days will greatly simplify the setup of IL2-MAT markings.

In the meantime you might like to have a look at a short, fun preview video that I recently put together.

IL2-MAT Manager Video (http://www.leigh-kemp.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/MAT_Manager_Preview.wmv)

It's optimised for broadband as it looked really naff as a 56K version. It's in Windows Media WMV format and is approximately 3MB.

Grat's putting the finishing touches to the installer an I've completed the documentation and website stuff.
