guys,
does anyone have any idea where to get replicas of the blades altair is carrying?

ScytheOfGrim

Take pictures of the weapons you want replicated, then find a blacksmith and ask him to make them... >_>

I doubt that you would find them already made in any sword shop... unless the owner is a Creed fanatic...

I can get in touch with a couple of smithies round the Manchester area, but it might be a bit of a bugger getting them to you. And since they'd be custom made you can be damn sure they aren't going to come cheap

altairego
05-11-2008, 10:44 AM
the hidden blade sure won't be cheap. my forearm ain't big.
i'll need em sharp too. no sense getting dull blades. imagine the people at customs scanning this stuff.. red light on! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Bobfish_Almight
05-11-2008, 11:43 AM
Well, I could have you a blunted one made and send a whetstone so you could sharpen it up yourself. As far as I know that's legal. and it would be cheaper if you just wanted a basic replica and not toledo steel

altairego

hey, i am an assassin, i need the best not to blow the job http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Bobfish_Almight
05-11-2008, 11:56 AM
Hrrm. That'd really cost you. If you're actually serious about getting it I could find out for you. But it'll take a little while. And it'll be coming from the UK so it'd take a while to get to you and stuff

altairego
05-11-2008, 12:01 PM
i am not planning on wearing them outside (well, not seriously anyway).
hidden blade is the key for me really -- that could be worn.
could you give me a price estimate?

Bobfish_Almight
05-11-2008, 12:04 PM
A toledo sword usually goes for around 300/$550. The hidden blade should be about half that, maybe a little more. But that's pure speculation on my part so I'd really have to ask around first. Be not concerned however, as soon as I know, you will too

altairego
05-11-2008, 12:17 PM
i'll wait. i have all the time in the world. thx, bob

BlairCullen02
05-11-2008, 12:26 PM
Wait, so you've come on to a little Assassins Creed community to find out where you can get a Hidden Blade and a sword?

You're mental!

altairego
05-11-2008, 12:32 PM
blair, i never said i was sane. what gave you the idea, mate?
i am russian, remember?

Bobfish_Almight
05-11-2008, 01:39 PM
And who said Lady A came here just for that?

This guy's work is rather sexay and fully functional: Sinza (http://sinza.forumotion.com/weapon-iii-f2/assassin-railblade-t303.htm)

Bobfish_Almight
05-11-2008, 04:30 PM
You know, now that I know you're Russian, you make a lot more sense

altairego
05-11-2008, 08:08 PM
i am glad i do.
@nevar: thanks, i have come across this site. he gives a nice description of how to make altair's blade.

Haha.

I remember when I was 17 and I went through a Highlander phase and my mother bought me some cheap little mini-sword (which was in no way Highlander related), but I had a lot of fun with it.... poor cats...

lmao, just kidding.

altairego
05-12-2008, 05:06 AM
i hope the cats forgave you.
but then, i've never heard of a feline's softer side.

Bobfish_Almight
05-12-2008, 11:57 PM
Cats are the living embodiment of evil. That's why I like them so much

altairego
05-13-2008, 04:35 AM
soft, purry, familiars of the evil one.

Bobfish_Almight
05-13-2008, 04:49 AM
I think it's more likely the evil one is their familiar

altairego
05-13-2008, 05:03 AM
it's the question of chicken and egg.
it's wierd that the developers did not build any smithies in damascus -- damascene steel was pretty famous back then all over Europe and Middle East and highly praised.

Bobfish_Almight
05-13-2008, 05:06 AM
That's a very good point. But since we only got inside the buildings of import to the plot we don't really know that they didn't. Plenty of those buildings I was running around on had chimneys large enough to be usable for a smithy

altairego
05-13-2008, 05:10 AM
i don't think a closed in building is a good idea for a smithy: all that hot fire, you know... and flowing metal.

Bobfish_Almight
05-13-2008, 05:11 AM
Didn't stop them doing it though

altairego
05-13-2008, 05:16 AM
and why are there EAGLES in the city? I know the view pointer, yea but -- eagles dont fly where people live.

Bobfish_Almight
05-13-2008, 05:17 AM
No, they hunt smallish rodents and stuff in tree and grass areas. but then, they're there as more of a subjective thing for Desmond I think

altairego
05-13-2008, 08:13 AM
i wonder -- do other citizens know they're there. cause birds do have shadows.

If you'd actually wear the hidden blade outside for self defense (I'm assuming you aren't a psychopath), I'd advise don't.

Buy a Kubotan. They don't kill (easy) and they do a LOT of pain.

altairego
05-13-2008, 09:36 AM
i am thinking to wear it on the inside -- HIDDEN is the key word.

EDIT: have you got a picture of a kubotan?

Bobfish_Almight
05-13-2008, 11:03 AM
I prefer tonfa myself. In most countries they're considered legal as long as you don't wear them overtly concealed (oxymoron ftw)

EDIT: have you got a picture of a kubotan? Hidden don't mean a thing when you get searched. Concealed weapons, especially, are not a pleasant thing to be found with. Kubotans are legal to be concealed, as they're specifically for self defence.

So are tonfa. And they look cool http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

altairego
05-13-2008, 02:05 PM
so how does the kubotan work exactly
what's the size of it?

Bobfish_Almight
05-14-2008, 07:48 AM
They're about twelve inches long I believe. A bit like a police asp, but without the spring load. And they just really hurt when you whack people with them. Some kind of dense alloy type thing

altairego
05-14-2008, 07:50 AM
you don't stick people?
damn..

Bobfish_Almight
05-14-2008, 08:13 AM
'Fraid not. It's blunt. That's why it's legal

The art book I bought from Ebay arrived today. It has enough images in there for me to have a blacksmith make an almost perfect replica. I'd better get busy

altairego
05-14-2008, 08:38 AM
i don't think we have blacksmiths over here... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

Bobfish_Almight
05-14-2008, 08:42 AM
In Canada? I'm sure you will have somewhere. I know a few people in the Canada area (broadly speaking) I can get them to scout around for me

altairego
05-14-2008, 08:48 AM
hmmm... looks like i found some websites of smithies here...

Bobfish_Almight
05-14-2008, 08:50 AM
I'm dubious about using websites for something like this. I'd always much rather see them in person. That way you can be certain it will be made exactly the way you want it

altairego
05-14-2008, 08:51 AM
you're right.
have you got #s so i can call and go over and see what they do?
maybe even the short blade too.

Bobfish_Almight
05-14-2008, 08:56 AM
The only blacksmiths I know are in the UK, and they're the friend of a friend variety so it'll take a little time to get hold of them. But if you don't mind the international call charges I can certainly pass on numbers when I have them

altairego
05-14-2008, 09:14 AM
sure, pass them on.
when i want something badly enough nothing stands in the way.

altairego
05-14-2008, 10:12 AM

Bobfish_Almight

Buy a new computer. I seriously need a job

altairego

Bobfish_Almight
05-14-2008, 10:17 AM
Yes, now does every understand how I was able to get such an insane number of posts in such a short space of time?

altairego
05-14-2008, 10:24 AM
good point.

Bobfish_Almight
05-14-2008, 10:26 AM
But since I plan to get a wireless ISP once I go to work I'll still be able to make stupid amounts of postings as well

altairego
05-14-2008, 10:30 AM

Bobfish_Almight

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/agreepost.gif I don't care what it is, just as long as it pays more than I get now
