View Full Version : Why no Lavochkin La 9/11?

The new Il2 is a superlative, period, there is no discussion. However I suddenly missed this ultimate piston engine fighter from Lavochkin.

Since 46 brings us many exotic new Soviet types and a number of late war, or just too late, aircraft, it felt like a sad omission not to have this bird.

Oleg, and team, if you still have a little free time on your hands, why not add another Soviet fighter with true pedigree?

La 9
http://www.kiwiaircraftimages.com/la9.html

The early post war Yak 9P and La 9 would fit in beautifully with the new Eastern Front!

This isn't about criticism or discontent, only enthusiasm and interest!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Simple cause La9 climbs 2 m/s slower than La7 and it turns slower . Disadvantages of metal builds vs light delta wood il2(tm) build.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yeah, a "I want..."-Thread.

I want Haunebu III and the Vril-Fighter. Oh and the Andromeda-Ger??t would be nice too.

Agreed 100%???

I could have sworn she would have made it into this sim for the '46 add-on. I rarely fly La-7s these days, but this baby would be a sweet addition to my stable. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Sure you could call it an I want thread, but the La 9 would not have looked out of place in the Soviet 46 line up, it actually being more of a surprise that it was left out.

It doesn't make 46 less interesting though, but to compare my La 9/11 reference with your cynical set of wishes is cutting it short.

If you disagree or dislike this type of post, it is easy enough to just ignore them.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The plane's name or the incident?

Anyway, for 4.08 I want improvements of the excisting 1946 and SoM-Planes. If then there is time left for another plane, fine.

Thanks for posting.

I think my favorite part of the plane is the squared (clipped) wing tips, much like my favorite planes. I'm betting that increased the roll rate nicely over the La-7 series. Of course, mere speculation on my part, as I do not have numbers, but seeing how much roll rate was increased on Spitfires with clipped-wings, I'm guesstimating. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Post is about the La 9 (or refined La 11).

Lot of a/c are deserving and yes refining FMs is always important, but I was pointing to an obvious gap in the Soviet 46 line up.

It is not a demand, just a wish(full thinking).

1C etc take that for what it is...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

La-7's profile should match these photos, they shortcut useing the La-5 3D model. Only thing that changed is the scoop added on the bottom, the model is NOT an La-7, never has been. Still the same old onion bulb shaped nose of a M-82 stitched to a Lagg-3 narrow fuselodge.

The La-7,9,11 had a wider fuselodge and the cowl was tubular fitting the fuselodge nicely for flow, plus these sweet shaped wings in the photos, not everything tapered and stretched to fit an oversized radial. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

I'd not noticed the difference in fuselage width at the cockpit before - but then again I very, very rarely fly the La-7.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
