this Spy story (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23111683) is interesting in light of our other discussion on tax rebates, the US economy and jobs lost to China...and what their government is doing with their new found affluence....

what a fustercluck!

no wonder their submarines were able to slip into the middle of one our carrier groups undetected and surface there last year...

WoW...that spying story broke today....and don't tell me you guys don't remember this (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/worldnews.html?in_article_id=492804&in_page_id=1811) story from last year...

apparently its not as important as getting a $53.50 tax credit from boosh - or 'global warming' or 'UFO sightings in Texas' etc - now thats really surprising to me.

These people are facing life term prison sentences but I think they should be wrung out and then shot.

Hmmm...maybe this stuff is TOO serious for the NPL? could that be?....nah. Even candyasses can discuss national security, traitors, espionage and firing squads - or should we talk baseball and steroids or babes and cheerleaders?

I remember there used to be a powerful, capable Nation...it was right around here somewhere.
Their people were proud and strong and more often than not, knew what was the right thing to do...decisive and fair...friendly but firm.

don't mind me - I've missed my meds...gotta remember to take my meds...gravy for the brain Jerry. It would be nice to talk to FDR or JFK about this stuff 'cause GWB won't come out of the john - jeeez he's been in there a long time.

chinas biggest concern is energy

over there , car ownership is like a rocket taking off

whats hypocritical is the west condemming them for it

it this world was fair , the west would be shrinking back to 1 car per family so india & china can increase theirs

I'm surprised at the reactions of people.

"Oh my god, spies!!!"

It should be "Oh my god, spies got caught!!!!"

All countries do it. China is just terribly poor at it.

As for the sub popping up, so what? It was in no man's land (heart of the Pacific). How can the US accuse the Chinese of shadowing the Americans? Think about it; they had no idea the Chinese were there.

There are a few possible reasons the Chinese surfaced. Maybe they remembered the US sub surfacing and colliding with a Japanese fishing boat and thought it might be safer to make themselves known.

Or maybe they wanted to show the US that they are not as invinsible as they tend to think.

Who knows? But, the Chinese sub did nothing wrong.
