Oleg,

Would it be possible to make the terrain in the map move (instead of my plane)?

I mean, after pressing M the map opens, my plane is stationary in its center, and the terrain moves.

It would also be nice to be able to zoom-in or zoom-out instead of cycling through the zoom values.

Thanks,
Hiker.

Yes, that would be nice. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Would need to use something other than right mouse button though.

EDIT:: Also, an instant keyboard 100% Zoom Out event for FMB maps.

HIKER Wellcome to the Forgotten Board.

Yes it would have been nice if 1C/Maddox Games had spent time of having a zoom-in/zoom-out function as well as having the mouse curser place itself on the map instead of spending time on adding more eye candy.

Well, they can do both eye~candy *and* fix the programming disasters...BOTH. I like eye~candy.

btw, start using the http://www.777avg.com/maps printable maps. I now use the FB map only for testing undocumented FMB AI behavior. The printouts make the whole game feel different. Awsum. And you only really need to print out the first page of complete map, rather than all the little blow up sections...which would take forever to print.

Only after fixing the "programming disasters'.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Not that I don't like eye candy, but it should not be added to side track, with ughs and aahs, other game issues, like the map.

FB Programming Disasters.

Yeah, I felt Guilty for putting that in...

Then I felt Guilty for taking it out, as I guessed it encouraged "others" to freely express their rage. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

My Rage:: I mean its the *simple* little things like zooming all the way out in FMB map, *@#$% that is so hard to do given the great tools in FMB. Why? Something that simple must be a Conspiracy. Has to be.

What are you gum flappin on about? Get with it. It is not the FMB map but the pop-up 'pilot's' map, you know, the one you get when you press the "M" key.

Oh, THAT "M" key. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

You know, they say, once you go printable maps, you never go back.

The option is already available, but unfortunately it is tied to having map icons (showing all planes) turned on. It would indeed be nice to have it tied to minimap path instead.

A quick word of encouragement and support though to the "fix-the-AI-dangit" posse; with you all the way! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Jetbuff,
If the option is available (even with the icons) how to turn it on?

Sorry, was away...

To enable the map to move while your plane icon remains centered you need to flip the following two switches to OFF in the second page of the difficulty menu: "No Mini-map Path" & "No Map icons"

i.e. click difficulty > next and make sure these two options (bottom left) are dimmed out.

The minimap path allows you to see the plane icon while the map icons causes the map to always center on that plane icon - unfortunately all other mission objects will also be visible as appropriately colored icons which is a shame.

Jetbuff,
I will try it this weekend.
Thanks for your help, and a Happy New Year!

Jetbuff,

Tried it over the weekend, and it's a no go. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
The switches you mention only turn on or off the icons/path on the map, but the map is still stationary.

Just to make sure we are synchronized - I'm on IL2 FB with patch 1.21.

Hiker.

Sorry, my mistake, been a while since I used either setting... anyway, what it does do is it keeps the map centered on your plane icon everytime you open it. i.e. if you're flying with it open and move outside the FOV all you have to do is close it and open it again and it will be recentered on your aircraft. Not exactly what you wanted, but it will do the job.
