So I've been flying FB on a PIII 1g processor with 512 PC133 ram and a Radeon 9100.

This weekend I got the OK to order a new one...

p4 3.2 extreme processor, ATI 9800XT 256, audology 2 sound card, 1 gig ddr400 RAM. Finally I can see some good framerates!

Now to wait for the cat 4.1 drivers so I can finally see perfect on my machine!

Thanks for sharing. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Wish I could afford such a beast.
Still, my new system is OK considering how much I spent.

Well the conditions were that there would be no upgrades fro three years, so she stressed getting a top of the line PC... I didn't complain http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

No, she's not, she just knows I love to game and from time to time want to get something better. The last PC lasted three years with only minor upgrades in RAM, and after two years a new video card. This rig should go the three years without too many issues.

If Alien ware offered a better interest rate, she was going to let me get an Aurora with an fx-51 processor...

I wonder if she's done something and jus tno ttold me about it yet... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

You getting it put together from a shop or custom riggin' it yerself? Which shop? 'Cos I'm in the market for a new power-rig but can only spend 1500 max. Too cheap? Been shopping around online and gotta tell ya, looks like the ibuypower.com folks gots some really great setups for the price...spec'd out an AMD Athlon 64 3000, Aluminum 420Watt Case, 120G HD, 512MB RAM, GeForce-FX 5900 128M, few bells and whistles for 1456 USD. They got a 5% instant rebate right now and free shipping. Gonna hold out after the holidays...see if they buckle and give up a few more incentives to move the rigs out the door. Whaddya y'all think?

I thought about building it, but the wife didn't want me to put it on the cc, she wanted to finance it through the company we got it through. So I went with a Dell.

Computer Gaming word rates thir XPS system as the best pick for a Intel based system.

Your system specs look good, but try to get the 5900 ultra video card if you can, it is a much better card.

Congratulations. I just dropped a wad on mine, just because I wanted to see decent frame rates on this game with more than 10 planes in the air. You won't be sorry. I cannot overstress what was already said to you about getting GOOD ram. You will save yourself alot of grief.

Good Luck, Mate

The MB is a 800mhz FSB and the RAM is the fast 400mhz DDR RAM, so it should be good. Not sure on the brand but in the past, Dell Certified RAM has performed quite well.

Sounds like an excellent new system...definately has all the right goodies, the top of the line stuff. Enjoy it! It'll make FB like a totally new game - infact getting a new computer usually makes many of your new games that you've gotten recently (I just underwent a similar 3 year upgrade about 6 months ago) like all new experiences.

Enjoy!

BTW: DDR400 is an excellent choice...try and avoid the overpriced & overblown RAMBUS RDRAM.

I just got the IL-2- for Xmas, how do you make the system work? All I am able to do is get a static cockpit which eventually has the prop going. It seems to freeze up my computer as well. Any suggestions?
