I've noticed for some time that this particular mission is a bit of a crowd killer. As soon as it comes up players begin to leave. I guess its because of the long over water slugging match and the absence of the "suprise" element.

I wonder if it is possible to alter it in some way to keep this otherwise excellent server populated.

What I was thinking was to have a couple of airstart points for the blue team that are actually over the island. Say, one for the Vals almost over Hickham or Wheeler field. and another for the Zeroes further to the west just beyond the harbour.

Just imagine. When the mission starts the red team would be scrambling pell-mell as the sirens are already wailing and the Vals are preparing to tip over into their dives. Zeroes would be prowling to the west and the only option is to flee at full throttle to desperately try to get some altitude before comming back to try and protect the ships and bases.

Point-conscious blues would still have a longish flight back to a carrier to worry about. While like minded reds would have a short, though hazardous return to base and be back in the air in no time.

So watchareckon? Does this sound like fun? Is it even possible? All comments and recriminations are welcome http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I wonder why we dont have a coops with two carriers (one from each side)....that would be fun, and, if you want, more historical

I have posted on this at the WoP forum before.

The only way to make the mission historical would be to allow only 4 P40s to take to the air.

Would'nt that be a pleasant break for those of us that normally fly IJN/IJAAF on the server... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Anyway...

This mission is to me the least acceptable one in the whole map rotation. I never fly it anymore.

ElAurens, it seems you are not alone.

I don't mind there being more than 4 P-40's, its the A-20 torpedo strikes on the japanese fleet that really make me wonder.

The thing is, it could be a good mission if it is weighted properly to reflect real life circumstances. Sure it would be one where the blue team has a distinct advantage. But being the underdog can be an entertaining challenge.

i dont mind long flights to the target, did it twice today on that map; only killer for me was being taken out by flak at 5000 metres when approaching japanese fleet, flack is much less severe over pearl. i enjoy the long flight to the target which is still much less than reality anyway

And bump.

I tried registering at warbirdsofprey but it won't go through for some reason http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif. Maybe some kind-hearted existing member could broach the subject on my behalf?
