View Full Version : Correct Patching - Forgotten Battles Gold Pack

12-12-2005, 03:15 PM
Hello Hello http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I currently have HyperLobby 3.8.95

I read the posts here in regard to picking up the Forgotten Battles Gold Pack and I installed all 3 discs (the last being the ACE Expansion Pack)

*My first question:
Do I need to insert disc 3 ACE Expansion Pack (as the game disc for both IL-2 Sturmovik, and
Forgotten Battles while online)?

And after I connected to the HyperLobby, and tried to choose IL-2 Sturmovik, I got a prompt
that said HyperLobby cannot find installation folder for your IL-2 Sturmovik game.

And when I tried Forgotten Battles the quick logon message said 'Game Not Supported'

*I had originally installed PF as a standalone and downloaded patches:

Standalone (PF) retail v3.03 full patch
pf_patch303.exe <Install this one first

Standalone (PF) retail v3.03/4 -> v4.01 patch

Standalone (PF) retail v4.01 -> v4.02 patch

Do I need to go back and install:
3.03, 4.01, 4.02 'merge-type' patches:

pf_v402m.exe Merged (PF+IL2FB+AEP) retail v4.01 -> v4.02 patch
pf_patch401m.exe Merged (PF+IL2FB+AEP) retail v3.03/4 -> v4.01 patch
pf_patch303m_over301m.exe Merged (PF+IL2FB+AEP) retail v3.01/2 -> v3.03 patch
pf_patch303m.exe Merged (PF+IL2FB+AEP) retail v3.03 full patch

Which ones of the above?

http://www.pacific-fighters.com/en/updates.php < OR do I need to go here for the newly released
402m patch?

And how I do I play all 3 games with 2 CDROM drives?

Which games require a disc?
(I know I'm missing something here - sorry)

In spite of what you guys may be thinking, please don't pass judgement on me as a 'TOTAL STUNOD'

There is a thread on correct patch installation at the top of the first page. If you do a full install of FB, AEP and PF merged into one game (recommended), then all you need is the PF disk in your PC. Got that A-OK?

Since you probably had PF installed previously you'll need to uninstall it. When you go to reinstall PF you'll want to choose the merged install with FB+AEP. This way it all becomes one big game instead of 2 seperate games.

There is no need to uninstall the standalone Pacific Fighters.It installs in its own seperate folder.

Just install FB+AEP+PF=3.03m+4.01m+4.02m.

HyperLobby FB room only looks for 1exe file.That is IL2FB.exe.Th standalone Pacific Fighters room only looks for pf.exe.

You might have to redirect HL to the proper path.Just hold down control+shift while you click on connect.A new window will open and you can manually put in the proper path.

No you don't. You'll just end up with a second version of Pacific Fighters after you 'merge' ...

First, here's the deal: Pacific Fighters can be installed as either 'stand-alone' or as as 'merged' ... or both at the same time, if you feel like it. The standalone install goes to its own specially created folder (UbiSoft/...?) while the 'merged' install goes to the "Ubi Soft/IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles." Each version has its own set of patches, with patches 3.03 through 4.02 designated for standalone version ann 3.03m through 4.02m designated for 'merged' Pacific Fighters game.

Okay, install the Gold Pack's three discs, starting with Forgotten Battles' two discs and topping it off with Ace Expansion Pack. Next, put in your Pacific Fighters disc and install the FB+AEP+PF option.

Check the 'Patch Correctly' sticky thread at the head of this forum (and go to the second page of it) or go to the updates area at the Pacific Fighters main page. You'll want to install the following patches for the 'merged' install:
- 303m.exe (the big 100Mb one that has earlier 3.01 and 3.02 stuff rolled into it)
- 401m.exe
- 402m.exe

That's 3.03m, 4.01m and 4.02m ... There is no need for the 3.04m patch. The 4.01m patch replaces every file in 3.04m -- I checked. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

That accomplished, you will need to use the PF disc to run the game. The game .exe was changed after AEP so certain "hack" files to bypass the CD-ROM that worked with FB/AEP don't work with PF 'merged.'

(If you just meant that you want to stop with FB+AEP and not merge, then you'll have to use the AEP disc to run the game. The patches for FB+AEP are numbered 2.01 and 2.04; you can't patch higher than that without installing PF first).

Well thanx again for your detailed help ....

BUT unfortunately it would appear that I'll have to re-format (and that's ok)

Because I tried all the options listed here to no avail...

So I tried the UN-INSTALL process (from the CD) in an effort to start the entire process all over again to do it the 'RIGHT' way.....

Well apparently the uninstall (as I expected), leaves some fragments in the registry which prevents me from RE-INSTALLING from a FRESH start.... and actually at this pint, there is NO opportunity at all to do a merged install or any install at all from the PF disc.....

Soooo unless you guys have a registry scrubber available, I'll just back everything up, and reformat .... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Thanx again

There are a couple of hitches that can occur:

1. If you don't use CD Autorun to start the istall for both FB and AEP there will be a missing registry entry and PF wont find the install of FB/AEP.

2. Online download versions of PF are either Standalone only or Merge only. You need to buy the box version to have both options.

Once you get it set up you should only need the PF disc 2 to get the game started. Should you have problems with "Please insert correct disc" type error messages, there is a cure at: Ubisoft solution center (http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ubisoft.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=10061&p_created=1099077749&p_sid=3_uGGxsh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PWRmbHQmcF9ncmlkc29yd D0mcF9yb3dfY250PTQmcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1zZWFyY2hfbmw mcF9wcm9kX2x2bDE9ODgmcF9wcm9kX2x2bDI9MTEyOCZwX2Nhd F9sdmwxPSZwX2NhdF9sdmwyPSZwX3BhZ2U9MQ**&p_li=) that replaces one of the files (rts.dll).

The MAN..by popular vote

Hey Tully now I see why u dah man!

Thanx for your tips buddy - I think you would agree that if I only knew about the added fun in obtaining the GOlD Pack BEFORE I installed PF as a stand alone, all of this wouldn't have happened ...... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

But that's ok ...

Giving your hard drive a good REFORMAT is like giving it a good LAXATIVE http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

I look foward to flying in the HYPERLOBBY again soon! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
