When LOMAC arrives, do you expect a mass exodus on HL from IL-2:FB to LOMAC? I know they're two different flavors but if LOMAC is able to live up to hype, will it be enough to drive salty ol' wwII pilots away from the piston to the turbine? most folks have the time constraint issue tagged to their gaming habit so I would imagine a hard decision would have to be made when that point and time comes. for me, i have no clue. I've never played a jet sim (hell, I don't even know how to fly the me 262 in il-2) but following this game has really peaked my interest.

Actually, have you seen any of the ingame video's they have available? Honestly, first glance I'm not real impressed. No particular reason, just a bad feeling about it. It may be that I'm still scarred from Janes USAF, the worst flight sim in the history or future of mankind.

Even though im getting LOMAC. I'll still be playing FB every day. You just dont get those gunfights in a jet sim as you do in a WW2 sim.

I prefer ww2 Sims. It's a completly other combat to fire with sidewinder rockets on enemy instead of 20 mm canon.

I'll be doing both games. Altough, I don't think that I can play LOMAC on pretty looking settings.

For most it will depend on wether they prefer to see their enemy on radar or actually see their enemy.

Props all the way!!!

I prefer props, but I'll buy Lo-Mac for the graphical splendour and fun.

Same here... I'll probably get it eventually, but I can't imagine ever getting tired of IL-2. I just love it too much. And the 10k missle shot never really appealed to me. I like the face-to-face DF more than anything.

there is nothing less satisfying than locking on a target, firing and watching it go away on radar when you are miles away. Buzz is right.

I wonder if RBJ will become a LOMAC 'ace' as well?

Careful here. The FB Night Fighters idea is not so far removed from LOMAC as we see FB now.

Anyway, you will love the MiG~29. Luftwhiners can try the West German NATO version.

My first flight sim was Flanker 2. So, I'm waiting for LOMAC.

For those who say that jet sims are boring, I disagree.

It's far more complex than a prop plane sim, you should know and remember a lot of things about which missiles to use in a given situation, when to use or not your radar, how to dodge a particular missile (enemy or friendly ones), etc.

Also, from my experience, it takes far less time to teach someone how to get at gun range to an opponent's six than to show him how to fight and survive a missile armed F-15 or Su-27.

The MIG-29 is absolutely an awesome plane, my appartment is appx 150 meters from the runway end here and their afterburners almost rips the windows out when they take-off.
But honestly, I like the close combat style of The Great War and world war II and in a MiG-29 it's out of sight combat..

I've never flown a jet, but, frankly, after 18 months on the Eastern Front I'm ready for a change of pace and scenery. LOMAC looks to be some serious eye-candy. That, for some reason, appeals to me. I will definately buy it, but I doubt it can replace the thrill of close-in air combat. However....who here is not sadistic enough to get off on some ground-pounding in an A-10? Bring on the Warthog!!

Im getting LOMAC, and if we have to pay for FB addons or whatvever ill pay for those too. Just depends what mood im in. I dont see how online will work. The AGM65 will kill anything on the ground while AAMRAAMs and Sidewinders will kill anything in the air...still gonna get it...B52!!!!!!!!!!!

I will certainly play LOMAC a LOT, but then, there are always times, when these "War of the Buttons" goes on my nerves and I just want a clear fight, man against man /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

...besides that, I convinced my Ego-Shooter-LAN-friends to play IL2FB with me, but there's no chance, they'll go for LOMAC, too /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I dunno. You know how in Oleg's Kuban map, the mountains get bigger, Bigger, and BIGGER the more south you go,
LOMAC goes farther south than Oleg.
