Why do all that when 4 32" inch LCD wide screens TV's with VGA's would be evern better and perform the same damn job?! just makes no sence to me.

And i thought we didnt have multi moonitor support in this sim?

that's what i like about track IR, you can use Track IR and a projector and accomplish about the same thing as all those monitors

The eye strain of trying to adjust to all of those monitors flashing by renders any advantage pretty minimal.

Ive yet to see someone remove the bezels from the monitors and fuse them together. Wondering if one can build a curved monitor that curves around you 180 deg.

The second picture of all the PCs is not IL2 but MSFS2000. It's an old picture from someone using the WideView add-on. It's at least 5 years old hence the use of CRTs instead of more LCDs.

The world of MSFS is at least a couple of orders of magnitude more popular than combat sims like IL2. GoFlight and SimKits have practically built their entire products lines off of MSFS.

To give some idea of scale as well it is not uncommon to have a pay add-on of ONE aircraft that costs $30 (US) or more. I was once asked to join a "Virtual Airline Squadron". It had 1800+ members but only around 1200 active at anyone time. Ever see a combat virtual squadron get anywhere near that?

IL2 is the predominant WW2 combat sim. Most of the MSFS world hardly knows it exists.

Its possibly because lots of civilian commercial pilots fly them, they tend to think fighter stuff is for cowboys

Ehh, Setback, that image was posted on the first page...

Now, having all the monitors display the same image??? That's completely mad. For one thing, can TrackIR4 even track your head if you rotate by 90?? You'd need a Vector Clip on top of your hat, I think! And as you turn your head you'd need to move your eyes from one screen to the next - not ideal. Better to look at one screen and just use your neck as a kind of organic hat switch , I think.

Not really. Pretty much always been that way. All of my "real flying" friends that I am aware of have a copy of either FS2002 or 2004 and a few of FSX. They consider it a decent tool that helps them with procedures or getting familiar with real world airports. Those friends probably number around 100 or so that would know me by name. I only know of one of them that does combat sims. They think my playing as something along the lines of brain candy. They tend to view combat sims as little more than Minesweeper and don't really understand the appeal of something like IL2. Even former Viper driver buddies of mine (Vader you out there?) prefer flying the F-16 in MSFS than Falcon 4.0.

It's a whole different type of flight-sim world that is also a lot bigger then this little corner of the world.

Well you see, we have this thing called "Time". And further back in time there were no 32" LCD screens. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
