View Full Version : Be Patient for "The Patch"

We are all anxious for "The Patch" and have seen many beta testers hard at work with the various versions of it but......

I don't think they are as close to a final version as we all would want (or think). There have been personnel changes among the ranks of software developers so work has not proceeded as quickly as originally planned. The scope of work is also greater than many people originally thought adding more time to this project. And please also consider that "The Patch" is a one-time release. Whatever Maddox issues will be the flight model that the community will live with as the final version. My understanding is "Beta Version 8" is not acceptable as the final release; just another stepping stone in the development process.

This a fantastic sim that I plan to fly for a considerable time so why not just be patient and let the software developers complete their work. When done, effort can be concentrated on add-ons to expand it.

I've been following posts of Oleg and see he has told us that development continues. I don't want Ubi to be pressured into a patch release until ALL of the improtant issues have been addressed.

So, for me a couple more months is no big deal, I'll be glad to have the final version of the patch released to the community by this fall.

Guys, if you think a thread is important enough for more attention, "bump" is sufficient /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Id rather wait for a solid release than have multiple updates.

Good post

thats the thing it can be another month or 2 months and its not going to be perfect like your all expecting.

I rather have something now that improves sound game engine fps and improved netcode at least its an improvement of what we have now and there will always be other patchs and improvements.

Im not positive but it seem like this will be the only patch for the game engine the others will just be planes and fm adjustments 1c is not taking any more 3rd party models after a couple months

There is should be more then one patch. In our comunity lots off big brains who are not betatesters. If more people would try and give they opinion, second patch would be even better.

Agree,

Take time, and do it right.

A couple of things

This simm has so 'raised the bar' that expectations are simply outrageous.

People are too often rude when they report things they think are wrong with the game.. Accusations of bias, blah blah. Personally, if I were a software developer my inclination, after awhile, would be to just stay off the forum - why subject yourself to insults and stupidity?

I agree -there is no reason to hurry - patched or not this simm is a blast - and the best of it's genre.

So very little is "buggy" in the sim that I can't think of it as a patch, but rather an upgrade.

Refining FM/DM's isn't "fixing" so much as enhancing the sim.

What we scream about and actually get attention in FB would be laughed at by just about any other software company, without comment by them.

It's actually a suprise to me when a game gets a patch - I just assume that most companies put something out and collect their checks. Only when there are real bugs (CTD, etc.) on a majority of systems do they usually fix things, and often are limited in scope, fixing only that one thing that is causing problems and not adding an content.

FB is like so real, when we see I~16 or fb109 Email outclimb fb109K, we call it a "bug" instead of a correctly coded use of bad formulae (or something who knows how they do it).

I say Oleg should ignore this Noob ubi board and post over at the simhq instead. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I guess you fly with your sound turned off and do not own an ATi video card. I also assume that you have never flown a single player campaign. The dynamic campaign needs some work, if you haven't noticed.

There is a fine line between fixing and enhancing. The ability of the I-16 to take about 700 rounds and not even have a scratch would be under the realm of fixing IMO.
