Search me Urufu but a couple of gents in the Movie Makers Forum had a problem with the thread "cluttering" up "their" Forum.

Actually not a bad thing, perhaps updated info about when, where and how to join in, the first (few?) posts would help make it more concise. I'd like to try it out, myself.

Just caught this.

The whole point of the Friday night CO OP thread was to encourage everyone in the IL2 forum to join and fly as members of this place - Even those of us who don`t like each other much. I find the `i don`t want to know, remove it from my sight` attitude from the minority extremely childish. We`re trying to keep the forum alive, not slowly kill it.

Perhaps we should make it an open-sticky instead?

I think they are full of it. They are like a homeowners' association "you can't put up a basketball goal in your own driveway, because others have to look at it" or " I can see over your pool fence from my upstairs window, and I am offended at the swimsuits you wear".

The post was about unity for the forum members. I guess they want to be considered separate from the rest of us. A higher class, if you will. We were intruding in their "clique forum",
and we should stay out.

The hell with them, I say. Please don't delete or edit this, as they shouldn't be over here reading this anyway.

I hope to see more members this Friday night. I think it has been quite successful. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This attitude and the attitudes of others in this thread are hardly in the spirit of unity.

To be frank, they are offensive.

Come off it Joe you got your wish, did you really think we weren't going to tell folk what happened to the orginal thread? they have every right to have an opnion on it also, you coming in to this thread stoking the flames dosen't really help,we should all just move on regardless.

Joe-90
06-23-2008, 09:20 AM
Believe it or not, I am actually interested in the coop nights and I was thinking about trying to join. Monterey, if you had read my post in the movie makers forum you would realise that I love this sim and get great enjoyment out of flying with friends.

However, there have been many false accusations made in this thread against myself and a good friend of mine. If people have a right to make these accusations in such an offensive manner then I have a right to speak in defense.

Nevertheless, I will not stoke the flames by deliberating further over the specific offensive accusations.

Joe, I had read the MM thread yesterday.

I think the OP really has issues, but I take it from both of your posts that the MM forum is a small clique, and I take it that outsiders...or their business is not welcome there.

Oh well, let's move on, shall we?

I see, joe. I had no idea you were one of the complainers. I did see the other forumite`s complaint which I felt was a little unnescessary. Well, the thread was designed to bring the co op server to the attention of all members of the forum, not just a particular sub-section.

It was not designed to stay up forever, but to garner enough folks to make it worthwhile continuing. It has only been up for about 2 weeks.

Still, it`s been moved, so that particular problem is dealt with.

Hey gents. FYI I have had one of the barbs on my cpu waterblock to spring a slight leak. This is the reason I haven't been around much over the last ten days or so. Blairgowrie (aka BG) has cranked up a Teamspeak server to use since my rig will be down until I get that barb replaced. So he will post the TS server info here sometime today hopefully so you guys can be sure to have enough time to connect to his TS server and make sure all is well.

Also, I just want to let you all know, & whoever started complaining about our original thread cluttering up the "oh so busy MM forum", that it was me that created shortcuts to our original thread to all of our forums. The reason for doing so is because I felt like this is an unprecedented event that was taking flight so to speak. I mean come on...at some point in time over the past five years or more we all at some point in time have had issues, problems, words, arguments, ect., with one another. To the point in some cases that the feeling was we didn't like each other or one another very much. And now to have an open afternoon\evening where we are willing to come together for a time of friendship & comradrie to fly missions with one another, imo, is a beautiful thing and "unprecedented". Hence I felt it important to let all of our members know about this ubizoo flight session. I mean not everyone takes the time to visit any other forum except the one they are the busiest in. I just wanted everyone to know what was happening in an effort to get as many as would be interested to fly together.

Mind you, especially the ones that complained about the shortcut to the original thread, this is not an apology, not in the least. It really erks the shiite out of me anyone would complain about this given the magnitude of the effort & event. I may be the only one here that thinks that this coming together of our members for a Ubizoo flight session is such a big deal, an important happening. I hope I am wrong about this. It is my hope that we all see this as something other than the ordinary get together of a few m8s for some coops. Given our past, that, imo, makes the Ubizoo Friday Coops an unprecendented event. And one that hopefully will be a regular event for many Fridays to come.

So if you haven't had an opportunity or are just skeptical about joining, please do give it a shot. It is good fun with good friends. I believe you will thoroughly enjoy your time spent.

See you guys in a couple weeks. Doing the vacation thing in PA visiting our daughter & grandson. They do have a computer but it isn't stout enough to run the sim. I did install the TS client software last time we were up there so I will probably pop in on you guys just to say hello and to have a few laughs.

I probably won't make it next Friday, either. It is the 4th of July, and myself and my family will be out on the lake in our boat watching the local fireworks show.

Anyway, it was another good session. Lots of interesting cultural/country accents: German, canadian, British, Irish, Scottish, American, swedish, gibberish, etc! And we all got on pretty well. Some good team play work as well.

Bewolf (who tends to stay blue) certainly adds teeth to the cO OPs.

Avro adds levity and some worry about his wife. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif He really is like how he is on the forum!

Jedi is our young fighter pilot killer it seems (when his PC is working).

Quazzi adds that deep south (is it?) relaxed drawl to things. then again he was pretty tired. If I was American that`s the accent i`d have!

BG keeps the generally polite tone all round!

Good to see joe and Sporran too.

Many other great chaps also in the mix! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

It`s a great way of getting an idea of the human behind the faceless forum and therfore a little respect is earned towards eachother.

Just to compare with the numbers of those who visit this forum.

I am looking forward to next week already. By the way, Bewolf, I have to commend you for your flight in the mc202, we had a pretty good fight there.
The whole "twenty seconds" experience was, illuminating.
I think we were about 20 something at the most, but more seem to join each week.

My favorite moment was actually captured in a screenshot above. When Myself and Heckschleuder were making perpendicular low-level bombing runs unaware of each other. I flew right into one of his detonations. I think there were more pieces of my plane in the air than could be counted.

Let's just keep it on Friday at the same time. If you can make it great. If not then you just can't. Shoot it is only one Friday (one day). Our regular m8s from across the pond should be able to make it. And seeing as it last for several hours, if not a bit more, surely the North American m8s could find a bit of time to participate at some point through the session.

Also I would like to extend an invite to those m8s interested in flying on Saturday evenings to join in with the Hell Hounds as a guest and spend part of your evening, or all of it, with me and my squadm8s flying coops. Just shoot me a PM sometime this week letting me know that you are interested and I will share the HH TS connection info back with you through PM along with the start time and game server IP.

Hi all.
Quite new here. Read the forums for months but registered only now.
I'd like to join these friday night coops, but i only manage to understand how HL works...really don't know how to do with a IP address.... anyone can tell me?
Thanks in advance.

However is there a precise skill level you have to have to partecipate here? I'm quite a noob. I usually fly only the 109. I know how to take off, how to land and how to die in a dogfight (:-) ) ....is that enough for a wingman?

Monterey13
07-04-2008, 09:24 AM
Hello Hoep, and welcome.

Just start your sim, and click on multiplayer, and join game. In the little box on the screen, type in bg.servegame.org:21000

Your skill level matters not, as everyone is there just to have fun. You might even learn something.

Best thing is to get on Teamspeak first, then if you have problems, someone can talk you through them.

Thx Monterey, very appreciated.
TS isn't a problem at all. I've used it in many other games and know how to make it work.
I've bought the game 2 weeks ago and since then i've flown some 40 lives on Spit-vs-109 server and on Wings of Valour, getting an awesome record of 1 (one) enemy shot down and 40 of my planes blown away:-(
However i'm looking forward to improve my skills and i'm sure these kind of coops are the way to go.
I will just have to drink some 10 coffeas in order to stay awake cause i'm from europe and i guess you all are from the U.S. so you'll be online when here will be very late! :-)

see you there so!

Just make sure you have version 4.08m installed otherwise you will not be able to join the game. If you need any help with anything just post here.

If you hear me say "20 second rule" it means someone has crashed and we are going to restart the game in 20 seconds. That means you have 20 seconds to down the closest aircraft to you, red or blue, doesn't matter.

If you weren't able to get in to TS and had trouble connecting to bg.servegame.org:21000 using multiplay, it was probably because we had started a coop. You have to wait until the end of the coop before you can join. I haven't installed any of the mods yet Bewolf but I am planning to do it in the next few days. I think if you run them it may distort the available flyable aircraft screen but I am just guessing here.

FlatSpinMan is a squad m8 of mine and he usually gets me and some others to test out his new campaigns. So I am familiar with the great job he does.

But I am not sure his Luftwaffe campaign is suitable for Friday night coops. He uses a fair amount of objects in his missions and his flight paths tend to be quite long.

What I can do for this Friday is fly one of his missions that I made into a coop with his permission and look into how his campaigns might work for us.

The servegame.org is a service I subscribe to. You can get a free 30 day option. You can see details as follows:

To start the process go here: http://www.dyndns.com/

Go to services/dynamic DNS/How to/account

Create account with password etc.

Add Host Form

For host name: enter Jed or something similar. Next select drop down box on same line and scroll to domain second from the bottom ie servegame.org

Enter your external IP

Reference conversion of offline to coops, it works pretty well IF there is much attention paid to details; you normally can't just de-specify which plane is player flown. There may be details in the msn which have to be addressed, and you will certainly have to completely re-do the brief to tell each flight what htier misn is. This also results in simplifying the misn somewhat, since not everyone reads the brief.
http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Anyway, changes may have to be made to the take off/landing arrangements etc. Also, the ojects may have to be reduced somewhat to make it playable on everyone's rig. I have converted several of my Redstar/Whitestar 1947 cmpn misns to coop, and it resulted in almost completely re-writing the misn. BG may have a couple of those we tested, but they have jets, and (don't tell him I told you this) he really hates the "fookin jets".

It has a rather large skin pack to, but the point is that for most offline misns to work well in coops, they USUALLY have to be re-arranged somewhat. The brief ALWAYS has to be redone. Keep in mind Frame rates and the number of seats. Also, some AI planes may have to be replaced with flyable ones.

The mods are another deal completely, as alot of compatibility issues would come up then.

Wish I could fly with you guys today, but got too much crapola to do. Maybe next fri.

To Play online you need to have the latest version of that game that we all have. That is 'IL2 Sturmovik 1946'. You can pick that up in the US for about $20. Once you have that, you can post back and ask how to get online. But if you don't have that, there is really not many players to fly with online.

Good Luck, hope you decide to get it. Looking forward to flying with you.

I do plan on trying to make it this week. But my car is in the parking garage of Vanderbuilt University Hospital with the left rear wheel locked up like the emergency brake is engaged on it. I am just now on my way out to either fix it myself or have it towed back to the house. Here is to hoping all goes well and smooth because I haven't felt well over the last couple to three weeks and haven't really done any flying with my friends. But today I really feel well and am really wanting to fly. Hope to see you guys a bit later.

It was good stuff, but kept having all kinds of weird problems on my side. Landing on the carrier was almost by chance since my TIR quit out on approach (as it has been doing consistently since my reformat) and I had to go to emergency Mouse! Then later a screen freeze which made me decide enough was enough. I am now whipping my PC with the frenzy of a hyaena. It will learn to respect my authoritaaa!

I`m sure I`ll have thing s running perfectly by next Friday.

I hear Jedi was having problems too, hope he`s fixed them.

This infernal heat is wreaking havoc on my laptop (A product of my quaterly nomadic lifestyle, a desktop is quite heavy to bring on flights) However some creativity goes a long way, A big bowl of ice on my desk cools my room, and helps my burning rig a bit. Good stuff, FT. It was an excellent night`s flying. I upset FT a bit by my meandering style of attacking the Stuka; I know it`s weird, but the rear gunner always finds it hard to hit when I do it.

I think that Spit that Sid`s after could be mine. Sid and I had one of the most intense amazing dogfights that must`ve lasted about 10+ minutes. It was a battle of wills really.

One of the most enjoyable Fight Nights yet. Good to see the new guys too. S! to all.

Well, I know it was short notice, but Strider joined, and we had fun chasing and shooting each other for a few hours. If I can, I will try to do it again next Sunday morning.

Definitely a "blast", as the pic's show!

We both got in our licks but i think I'll be a lot longer on the disabled list...lol.

It was, Seafire. I couldn't get the right angle due to your manouvering but managed some hits. Then, engine overheating forced me to return to land but you following through caused my demise. Well fought and well deserved.

I had a great time while I was there.

When I broke for some dins, I fully intended to be back in @ 45 minutes. Little did I know, The Best Laid Plans...

I went to my favourite pub for a smash and a take-out of kidneys and mash, but ran into an aquaintance who I knew had some r/l flying experience but was unaware of it's true log. Turns out that he flew for Freddie Laker, mostly in southeast Asia, first as a Flght engineer, then a co-, then a capt.,then a check-out capt..His advancement was rapid and the check-out flights in his time usually had paying passengers! He regaled me with tales of stop-overs with his co-, Johnnie Walker , along with his brothers Eng. Red and Nav. Black, at the usual exotic destinations. His exact details are classified because he invited me to visit him at his retirement condo in Panama where he has a Piper Cherokee to "get around".

By the time I logged back in, (9:52 EDT), all had gone on to bigger and better Friday night activities http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Again, great missions and thanks to BG for hosting!

Well, I didn't expect you to be able to on a biplane! lol Though I've done the same in my hurri. Get off the ground and wonder why I'm climbing so poorly, only to realize I left gears or flaps down. :P
