Some people must already know the original version with robot voices but this reedition is really nice.

Yep, the sound and radio chatter are much improved. The rest has always been a pretty good CGI video. Thanks for sharing.

I think that this is Tochy's earlier films. And while it is surely excellent it is too bad that the combat scenes and the actions/movements of the planes are so cartoonish and unrealistic.

Can you exemplify this unrealism?

Can you exemplify this unrealism?

Sure thing mate, easy.

Start watching at around the 33 second point. A Mustang at low level banks right then left into a full barrel roll which it completes fully. There is no delay as it reverses the direction of the roll, as though inertia did not exist.

Next watch the maneuvering of the Japanese plane under threat at the 53 second point.

None of this maneuvering let alone turning slow any aircraft from what I can see.
Nor is there any effect of all this maneuvering on any pilot.

The entire dogfight is romanticized and fits the idea of what an amateur thinks of as realistic combat, in the same way that the dogfight scenes in Rote Baron (movie) do.

Nobody in combat, except the dead, flies like this.

But still having said all that, it is still excellent work, despite these flaws. If I am not mistaken it is merely supposed to be an add for Tochy and his modeling abilities after all.

His later, though shorter films, are better than his early work. Except for very small things like the impossible perfection of ground loop of the Shinden-Kai. Such perfection of movement eliminates believability. Such perfection of movement distinguishes the intelligence operating the aircraft as a machine not a human. The same thing is true in Il-2. You can tell when an aircraft is being flown by AI or a human just by watching carefully.

In fact if I didn't know better I could be persuaded that his short wings01 depicts real aircraft.

Not bad, not bad...but yeah the planes do yo-yo around a bit too unrealistically.

Also the voices sound weird, still like they're robots or something.

This vid is by the same guy and has been posted here before, but I think it is more intense, it's a bit more primitive looking in terms of the graphics but the planes move around like they should...

That really is some awesome action.....It's such a pity we can't crank up AAA and aircraft numbers like they really were to show how much it really took to simply get a bomb or torp on a ship.

^Eh? I don't know about plane numbers but I've tried capital ships in FMB with AA turned all the way up and they are no joke.

Okay....Now run that as a coop online. What was the result (for guests)?

IIRC, isnt default value for ship's ROF in game twice the actual, historical ROF? (or perhaps vice versa, half the historical rates?)

I would love to see these in better resolution.
Is there a way to download the full res movies?
