View Full Version : Dodgy carrier landing with the Lerche

My first attempt.
Carrier was moving pretty fast but I managed to get it down. Its quite hard but with a bit of practice I'm sure plenty will master it.

A speck of dirt on your windscreen could turn into an enemy fighter in the time it took to look round and back again. A little smear on your goggles might hide the plane that was coming in to kill you.

Lerche can survive THAT but not a 3km/h roll on some trees? ( Try landing the lerche on some hillside village square ;-) )<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You would've had a smoother landing on a British or Japanese carrier, for in 1946 the US carriers were finally retro-fitted with the kamikaze proof "trampoline deck" which bounced an enemy plane back into the sky.

The Lerche tipping over is actually sim sailors tipping over the enemy a/c in preparation to roll it off the deck.

So, great landing on your part! Can't wait to try it myself. Love those carrier landings!

I wonder if the fully loaded Arado bomber can get off the deck with RATO?

If you survived it's a good landing.
If you can use the aircraft again it's a perfect landing. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Looks like a Great landing... I still count the pieces with a Carrier Landing. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The Lerche and other new aircraft... if we can use them on the Carrier's... will make for some Very interesting FMB Missions.

Thank's for posting.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

That was class!

I bet afterwards one of the deck crew would climb up onto the annular wing and run backwards to roll it towards the decklift. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Ha ! That's it ! No more wonder how the Lerche gets the powah to take off vertically with 1946 engines.
In fact, there are fanatic Hitlerjugend hamsters running inside the wing and powering the propellers... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
