It was not "amazing."

(1) Pure static fixed "campaign" -- you start the war knowing like Prophet all your future battles and the exact outcome of the war and the exact date of your surrender/victory.

(2) Playable Map size 1 kilometer.

I suggest a look at Lexa Studio's Pacific Storm dynamic strategery game -- ignore the "sim" part. I'd love to try the eXtremE challenge of commanding Japanese forces in Pacific -- you only have a few months to do everything. Is it even possible?

Lexa's Pacific Storm ~> http://www.pacificstorm.net/en/index.php

Or the older War In The Pacific fundamentalist hardcore grognard dynamic strategery game, by Matrix Games...

Still selling Online since the beginning for 70$ -- 80$ with mail CDs -- the definition of successful Niche product.

I think it was shelved unfortunately, was going to be released by codemasters and used the IL2 engine? BUT Is this new ubi one not similar?

wow, that looks impressive. HOwever, Im pretty sure that the US army didnt get the firefly sherman in time to actually deploy it, but that may be incorrect. Amazing it took them a yr to adopt the thing. 17 pounder could take on Tigers.

I wonder if youre limited to infantry or can you fight in the tanks. I keep hoping someone will resurect/redo the old panzer commander, make the brakes work, and release it.

You should try Red Orchestra ( www.redorchestragame.com (http://www.redorchestragame.com) ). It's a FPS that uses good physics, iron sights only, and allows you to drive tanks and other vehicles. All this on the eastern front. It's nothing like the kiddie games of CoD2 or Counterstrike. However, it's not a full simulation of tank combat (I wish), but it does give a good feel. In short, I like it so much that I haven't really flown PF since RO was released. I guess I'm just burned out and worn thin by the yo-yoing FM & DM of PF.

While some folks have a need to p*ss on the game because it uses an older graphics engine (Unreal Tournament 2.5), the game play more than makes up for it. Don't get me wrong, the game looks really good on my machine, but probably isn't up to par for those that demand the eye candy of COD2.
