Just played it and wow I forgot how ugly the 109G2 scheme was. Alot has changed. I forgott how hard it was to shoot down a plane back then as a yak 9 absorbed about 8 MG151 20mm cannon shells and laughed! Try it for a trip down memory lane!

There was a thread about this a couple months back. The demo was really good for its time.
You are right about memory lane. It doesn't seem like that long ago when it came out, but it really has.

The other day I was bored and so I decided to install Il2. But, alas! I couldn't remember where the disc was. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif Ah well, I'm probably not missing out on a whole lot, eh? This sim was incredible for its time, and still blows much of the competition out of the water even today, but I'm sure I'd be right back to 1946 after 5 minutes down memory lane.

I installed it the other day, never having played it before. Interesting the differences between both demos and the release version.

Don't know. It's more 'fun' in some ways. If it supported TIR I'd play it regularly, as it is it's still a blast to go back and play the first mission that hooked me. I can play the same mission in 1946, but it feels more clinical. Go figure.

Are those elusive rain drops on the windscreen present in this demo?

I don't know about that but there are some interesting sound effects like ricocheting bullets. Give it a try!

True, true. If I ever find the disk I might have to play through the original campaign again.

Yes, I remember the original version of IL2, trying to deal with the AI that could do bat turns in P-39's and whack you from long range lobbing those 37mm shells right into your cockpit.

First time I tried the demo it was a slide show, screaming at me: "Get a new computer you Capitalist running dog!!!"

Nope. Unless it's a graphics card specific thing, then it's just not there. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
