View Full Version : Do NOT upgrade your NVidia geForce 4 card past a certain point...

Apparently it's not generally known here at Ubisoft support that Nvidia geForce 4 cards should NOT use a graphics driver past #v 56.72. Anything more recent will cause the games to malfunction.

Actually, it IS common knowledge here on these forums that the GeForce MX cards will not run Uru correctly on any nVidia drivers past 56.72.

I'm not aware if the Ubi Soft tech support people know this or not (we're not tech support people)... We're simply volunteers; but we've known this for quite some time and frequently help folks experiencing glitches due to new drivers and old MX cards.

Welcome to the forums by the way.

And unpaid volunteers, at that! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

See Uru: Installing Video Drivers With Win XP (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/524109302/m/539102665), especially under Installing NVIDIA Drivers, b.1.

I notice that the instructions for both ATI & Nvidia drivers state that if your chipset is not supported to check out the Omega drivers. I would suggest that your best performance is obtained using the Omega drivers. He is very knowledgable about these cards and his drivers have many enhancements that the regular drivers do not have.

I have run Omega drivers for the last few years, and have even installed the new driver packages from Nvidia & ATI. But they have not been able to compare to the quality of the Omega drivers. And where an equivalent Nvidia or ATI standard driver would not work, the same release under Omega does.

I have no tie-in with OmegaDrivers, but I do support his work with a PayPal donation now and then. His work is free, and I used them for awhile before sending him any $. I know what he is doing, and his work goes a long way towards making our gaming experience better. And if you notify him of a praticular problem with a game and his driver, he will go out of his way to iron out the problem. Try getting that with Nvidia or ATI...lol

Just my thoughts on the video driver situation! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
