I want to know more about the 4.2 million Francs. What would tht have been worth, if anything in June of 1944?

Awesome. Have been doing alot of research on the Normandy battery sites for a much more detailed Normandy map. Great timing! Cheers.

I'd say the locals just didn't care, so let it grow under the brush. How it got covered with dirt in 60 years, I'd say mother nature had nothing to do with it. The house in the background didn't get buried.

I'd say finding 4.2 miliion, might of incourage the reason to bury it, out of site out of mind till, the money was gone.

Very interesting though.

On the 60th Aniversary in 2004 me and a few m8's went over to Normandy. If I remember correctly there is a dual carriageway road that runs right behind the whole invasion area, albeit well inland. To drive from behind Caen to the Cotentin took about an hour on a fast bit of road I think..
