By now we all know Atair will can attack on his horse but will we fight anyone that is on a horse?

10-12-2007, 09:33 AM
I dont know but it would be really cool!

10-12-2007, 09:40 AM
yes he will fight people on his horse... Altair can fight on horses, that means NPC's can too.

The NPCs can't asssassinate each other or dive into haycarts...

10-12-2007, 10:57 AM
I hope there is at least 1 target that you will have to do this...
imagine this : Riding on your horse side by side with your target... Alta´r jumping on his horse back, then jumping on the target for the instant kill... would be so cool.

10-12-2007, 11:18 AM
We've seen NPC's on horses, so yes they can.

The developers (Jade basically whatever) said that anything Altair the guards can do too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif albeit they'll probably be more sloppy at it than Altair as far as the climbing walls but we've seen them do it... so horse combat is a yes for the guards

10-12-2007, 11:33 AM
So your telling me... just because the army is good at shooting guns, means that when someone else picks up a gun, they cant shoot it?

A normal person can't jump in a hay cart? I believe he can, maybe not from that distance though.

NPC's cant assassinate anyone... I believe they can, just not as good as Altair.

Everyone can do something, just not as good.

Besides, there are guards who ride horses in the game, THEY HAVE TO be able to fight. You saw those knights in the preview video...

10-12-2007, 12:12 PM
yes but that the guards have horses doesnt mean they can fight on it but it would be cool though

10-12-2007, 12:17 PM
LOL, are you kidding? In the video, he says he has a WAR to fight, and rides off most likely to the WAR. Why the hell would they go to WAR if they don't know how to fight on their horses that they ride to WAR??!?!!

10-12-2007, 12:24 PM
But it's a game. It could just be DIALOGUE. But yes I'm pretty darn sure they can fight on the horses, otherwise it would be stupid.

10-12-2007, 12:39 PM
I never said that they wouldn't be able to fight on horses, or anything about... guns and armies?

I was simply pointing out that your logic, in that case, was completely flawed.

10-12-2007, 12:43 PM
No it's actually not flawed... because Jade says the guards can do everything Altair can do just not as great http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

The thing is they probably won't be jumping into haycarts because they probably

1) either won't think of it if they didn't see you jump in the haycart

2) Be too scared to jump into a haycart

These guys aren't trained assassins but they have the ability to in the end if they want to http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

These guys won't be too scared to swing at you from horseback though that's what they're trained to do after all

10-12-2007, 12:47 PM
Oh yay, Hatch explained it ! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

This is kinda going off topic... I wasn't talking about AC particularly, rather the fact that video game characters often have a defining skill or ability that other in-game characters can't use due to programming, i.e., I've yet to see an old Russian man outrun a speeding car and leap over a building in a single bound on Crackdown yet.

10-12-2007, 12:54 PM
Most games yea but this game isn't crackdown I s'pose http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

It's been stated the NPCs have the ability to do whatever Altair can do in this game

EDIT: I mean most games NPCs have a different set of limitations than the main charater and that Assassin's Creed is not most games? Yea ok just to clarify

10-12-2007, 12:58 PM
Jade said that they will chase you and fight you with the limit of their abilities, so some are skilled, others not; so not everyone can jump from building to building, only some people.

And remember this game is going for realism, not like Crackhouse, I mean Crackdown.

I think that there will be no horse combat in the cities, but in the countryside where altair can use his mount effectively, there will be guards on horses or escaping them would be an easy task

10-12-2007, 02:03 PM
Its not like you can't ride your horse in the city... sure horse combat will be better in the countryside but it's not entirely limited to the countryside http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif If you find a way to make it work it will work

10-12-2007, 02:15 PM
Well I said effectively, the streets in the cities are narrow with little space for maneuvers (did I write it correct haha). And also there are too many pedestrians. In real life, you won't be able to charge into a crowd and come out of it still on horseback (the horse would trip or something)

10-12-2007, 02:17 PM
Then it would work to your advantage if you are running away because it would creat an obstacle for the guards.

10-12-2007, 02:28 PM
Oh yes I know but you said only in the countryside and I said if you could find a way to make it work it'd work http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

10-12-2007, 05:50 PM
Yea nothing's stopping you from fighting on horseback in the city http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
