View Full Version : Hiring Hyperlobby Servers???

I often see ads for other games where companies offer to hire /rent out servers which individuals/clans/squads can use.Is it possible to do this for IL2 Sturmovik 1946/Hyperlobby?I have pretty much given up on trying to host missions/servers myself .I dont have a static IP and have spent ages opening ports etc all to no avail.....

About how much does it cost ?Monthly/Annual charge?

Does the max number of players you can host still depend on your own connection speed ?

Any companies you reccommend?

as far as i know i haven't seen any hosting company which would do il2 series df hosting, on the other hand il2 dedicated server is not very hard to set-up and the software for controlling dedicated server is freeware....

so my advice is to try and "recruit" some il2 hoster to make that setup for you, or if you still can't find anyone to do that for free offer a small fee to community, there will be for sure someone who will help you....

Try speaking to Sparx at www.war-clouds.com (http://www.war-clouds.com). He might be able to give you some pointers on hosts.

You must rent a dedicated Windows server if you want to host an IL-2 server. The SERVER connection is what matters when it comes to the number of players. As far as the server is concerned you are just another player.

Both The Krypt (http://www.krypt.com) and The Planet (http://www.theplanet.com) rent dedicated servers, although I have no idea how they perform when it comes to IL-2. I believe, but I may be wrong, Sparx used to host with the Krypt but has since moved to another provider.

Note that running a co-op game from a rented server is difficult at best as it requires remote terminal access that doesn't screw up the terminal display. I used TightVNC when I was doing my experiments with co-ops on a rented server. If you're not familiar with that type of thing, stick with the dedicated server.
