Look at all the pretty trade boats. It's a shame about terrain though. Rather bland.

Huh? They're cities, and there are only 3 cities in AC, Acre, Damascus and Jeru

But it is a possibility that we see a much oder version of those cities... I don't know...

Some of those cities weren't around back then, but I'm guessing that some probably were.

Wasn't it hinted, or confirmed, that there's gonna be some towns / a town in the kingdom..

And yes there are going to be towns

MeAltairLol

They might be small towns... Then again, Ubi might've cut them them out, as the map isn't triangular, it's more circular...

They're cities if they're in Medieval 2..

We're not talking about Acre, Jerusalem and Damascus... 'nor are we talking about Medievil 2..

MTW isn't only set in 1191... The time of the screenshot could've been in, say, 1500?

ScytheOfGrim
10-22-2007, 10:07 AM
What I meant in my previous post is that maybe those cities were only towns in Altair's time... but now that you mentioned that this is game is in medievil times... hmm...

When exactly does this game take place?

MeAltairLol
10-22-2007, 10:11 AM
The game is set between the years 1080 and 1530.

JosheyG34

But in the game the cities dont change they grow and shrink but they dont change all the cities in game were present during the 3rd crusade, maby not the same size but they were there. and the Year is 1289 in game!

ScytheOfGrim
10-22-2007, 10:24 AM
Hmm... 100 years...
I don't think that was enough time to go from town to city, especially during the crusades era...

MeAltairLol
10-22-2007, 10:25 AM
That's what I meant... Those cities 'encircled' could be in the game.

I just looked Tyre up and it said: "Tyre was founded around 2750 BC according to Herodotus and it appears on monuments as early as 1300 BC. Philo of Byblos (in Eusebius) quotes the antiquarian authority Sanchuniathon as stating that it was first occupied by one Hypsuranius."

Looked up Baniyas but I can't seem to find a statement saying when it was founded, but I think it does say something about a bishop in the year 325...

Edit: sorry looked up wrong city, looks like Tyras was also a city in the area...

Damascus is the oldest city in the world so it was huge back then too, Jerusalem was around back when the Torah was written. Acre was known about by Alexander the great. Acre was a key location during the crusades.

To bad its incorrect. The main focus of the crusades was jeruselem. It IS the kingdom of heaven, where jesus died...thus giving the crusaders a reason to focus all their attack on that city. Jeruselem was the largest city back during the crusades too. It was the biggest when the Romans took it over years prior and its not like the Romans to make one of their cities smaller...and the muslims only built on the Holy City when they concord it.

how do those oversize cities indicate that ac's map will be huge. i know they're pretty large from the videos and screen shots, but how does that relate to m2tw?

too bad you are wrong. Damascus is the oldest city in the world and all of these cities are old because the middle east is were the first civilizations were started. I also said that Acre was A key point during the crusades, not THE key point. Acre was the only city to remain Christian after the second crusade so it was A key point not THE key point. like you said the main key point was jerusalem. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Doh, the cities in M2TW grow depending on what you do. So even if they are shown as towns in the map, they could really be big cities.

BTOG46
10-23-2007, 07:28 AM
I hate to play devils advocate here, but most historians do aggree that Damascus IS one of the oldest cities in the whole world. (discovered so far, there may be older as yet undiscovered evidence for others).
So parkerb103 is correct.
Quote:-
"Excavations at Tell Ramad on the outskirts of the city have demonstrated that Damascus has been inhabited as early as 8000 to 10,000 BC. It is due to this that Damascus is considered to be among the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world".

A typo isn't good enough to claim pwnage, when you consider that pwned itself only came about due to a typo in a game by a Dev. it was meant to be owned. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
