do a search for avg anti-virus

also get spyware search and destroy

ad-aware se (by lavasoft)

then get winxp serv pack 2 and download their integrated spyware utility (they bought Giant software which makes the monster of spyware utilities).

I use this (http://www.grisoft.com/doc/40/lng/ww) on all my other PCs except my main one and when my Norton subscription expires I will put AVG on this one too. Hit the Essentials link in my sig to get Adaware SE a great spyware removal tool.. also try typing Microsoft Antispyware in your browser. It is a free program and it works great. For a firewall try this (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_za.jsp) ot use the Micfosoft firewall that comes in SP2.

I`ll spare you the search.

Direct download of AntiVirus Grisoft (AVG) free version here: http://www.grisoft.cz/softw/70/filedir/inst/avg70f_308a466.exe

Totally free for home users and works like a champ.

It may also be a good idea to stop using M$ Internet Explorer (a spyware magnet) and switch to the Firefox free browser, get it here:
http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.0.2&os=win&lang=en-US

Another champ!

I thought AVG was great until I tried AV Personal get it here http://www.free-av.com/ I have had Norton, AVG, ect. This is by far the best. And only bothers you when it has too.

Like most here I swear by AVG. The best IMHO. It's caught and removed every virus I ever came in contact with.

AVG cant remove viruses from windows system volume information.

I actually do have charts and graphs to support my claims. I'm a network engineer by trade, and a few months ago we (myself and a coworker) did extensive testing on every known firewall/ant-virus/spam-blocker software.

I can't divulge the results of those tests.

I can tell you to download forticlient and be happy that you got it for free.

I noticed that Baldie. It always says "cannot open, not checked" on the SVI files.

Thank you Baldie Jr. I am taking your advice and dl'ing Forticlient. I am using NIS 2004 as of now, but the Creative drivers for my Audigy 2 have a conflict with NAV. Sometimes, my NAV will not enable. I've actually had to uninstall/reinstall both NIS 2004 and the Creative drivers many times in the past and frankly, it's becoming a pain in the ..... Thanks for sharing that tid bit of info with us m8.
