ok i am finally getting ready to put up that server again. so i left the computer running where it's now gonna stay and made a remote admin connection to it. then of course i fired up FB only to find out that the mouse does not work when an application (such as FB) takes over the screen. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

LOL i actually knew about this ..... i tested that some years ago http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif but................ AAAHRG

the dedicated server is close to be able to work on HL. so this will be no problem then .... but i am not gonna install ubi service .... i have a router behind a router over there and that is just totally out of the question.

So ..... Question is :

1. is there any remote desktop app that supports this ? (i really dont think so actually) i already used XP remote desktop (sucks) and of course Remote Administrator 2.1

2. any FB launcher app that will do this for me - and work with HL

3. what do you use to remotely administer your servers..

hoping for a quick temp solution until the boys fix the dedicated server to support HL.

I recall we had the same problem.

You have to adjust the mouse settings in the conf.ini file to make the mouse "clickable" on buttons. I'll try and dig up the settings that we struck on to use.

The easiest way I connect to machines remotely is through the Windows XP remote desktop connection. As long as terminal server service is running on your server you do not need to have XP to connect. If you don't have XP copy the mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll from a XP machine.

Johann, moving your mouse to the top of the screen brings down a yellow task bar, that hides, where you can snap off the connection and the server will continue running. You do not have to log off.

As far as the mouse working in the FB dedicated server program, I don't know, I haven't run the program. Obviously the video in a game doesn't work, or else I'd be flying while at work!!

I'm a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, btw.

The fix that I will post (when I get home in 6-8hrs) is the one we used for XP remote desktop. I confirm that the problem with the mouse existed only within the IL2 program.

(geez I hope I remember where I put that info...)
