Couldn't believe it but I had a WW2 Sub Vet stop in my office today, an actual member of the USS Ling 297. If you have been following my post's you will know that I have decided to use her in SHIV, I showed him SH3 and the SHIV trailers, he was totally blown away. His quote "Its nice to see that people like us (Forum Members) still show an interest in the Great War" We moved onto the sad but true Pearl Harbor deadications at the local pier. It was my son and I and about 4 or 5 oldtimers throwing a reith in the bay. I told him that my son will never forget them. Another sad but true is the USS Ling is being kicked out of her berth to make room for friggin Condo's. She is in danger of being towed out to sea and turned into a reef. The folks that take care of her can't afford the salvage fee as she sits in a bank of silt (remember the Intrepid) She would need to be towed to Toms River or Camden. Anybody got $1.5 Million? Check out her web site USSLing.com, you will see why this sickens me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I don't believe all this rubbish of throwing history away like this, they can make a reef out of any old ship they don't want any more.

Completly ridiculous!!!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Otto, perhaps look into putting the hat around amongst the forum members, also for SHIV and at Subsim.

See about setting up a bank account just for that purpose, and emailwilling donators the account details sowecan transfer funds.

Better still, ask the society who are trying to save her, if they have an account for the boat.

I can't speak for anyone else, but if you have those details, I will happily donate to help.

Dig deep people, the ols vets dug deep for us all those years ago - time to give back
