View Full Version : WWII is over people!

RedSpar

Is it me or are more and more people that play this game act like they are still fighting WWII for real online???

I won't name names but I swear certain individuals go a little past the line and dare I say even verge on Nazi sympathy, Japanese hatred, American bashing or hero worship when it comes to this game.

This community is becoming more and more polarized between red vs blue than I have ever seen it before. If it gets any worse UBI will need seperate forums for allied and axis players to keep you guys under control.

So some of you guys need a reality check. Yeah it's fun to pretend you're fighting for your favorite side online and that's ok. But just tell yourselves every once in awhile that this is just a GAME and WWII was over 60 years ago.

I think if the real pilots of WWII saw how some of us acted here both the real German and American pilots would b*tch slap all of you!

You can try, but if anyone tries to machine-gun your Johnny Hun dog through a well lit window, you only have yourself to blame.

Where's my ration cards?

Here in the southern US our Civil War still inspires raw emotion 150 years after the fact..... don't hold your breath.

georgeo, I was raised and still live in New Jersey (can I have some sympathy here?) but my Mom is from Tuscaloosa. Everytime her mom came up to visit us I was told sternly "the South shall rise!". You're right, this might take some time!

I was raised in New England during the 70s and the elitist mentality, far superior over our red-necked Southern brethren, brainwashed me to believe liberalism was, well open-minded http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

Don‚‚ā¨ôt waist your time fretting RedSpar personal bias and prejudice will always exist. A lot of folks here need to sit in the security of their homes typing off hoping to convince the world. I recommend you do what I do - click off the page and forget the diddle http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

RedSpar, I hear you. Something you can do that works(and I've done this recently) is to start new thread whereas you can post useful or interesting info and maintain them. It's a bit of a challenge since most things have already been posted here at one time or another. On the bright side, there are new members all the time.

This is what my doctor recommended. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

BTW RedSpar, with interesting or informative threads you will not get the numbers the flames threads attract but the quality of the posts will be much better.

Some people are mega competitive,, fine! I can be pretty much so when a mind to.

I had the "pleasure" of hearing on t/s yesterday someone who we all know spouting off.

Way too serious/win at all costs mentality imho.. I must be a babe as I was genuinley shocked at guys "self belief", it was freaky http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I now know this sim is capable of driving people "nuts"..

Still hopefully it is a safe outlet and keeps em off the streets http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, what did you expect from a war simulator? Sweet-talking and sportsmanship?

Anyhow, you are right. I am surprised sometimes how far people can get carried away in the heat of the battle.

Ah, those girls make me feel better...

But what`s this? WWII is over? Rubbish! How can it be over with so many Blue Axis still left to defeat and the Red Allies suffering so much? The war always goes on! It`s a never-ending fight! It can never be over till they`re all destroyed! DESTROYED

Then I will rest....

Big problem is that really a big chunk of this community connects planes with ideaology. If you fly a pony, youre a redwhiteandblue hero fighting for everyone`s freedom,if you fly a Yak you`re a poor Russian pilot defending his rodinu against horde of black cross Nazi horde in a heroic strive,if you fly a Bf109 you`re a blood-thirsty-Jew-eater agressor hun who is confident nothing will stop him from ruling the world.

While flying online I`m called Ubermensch,Volksdeutsch,Nazi,Arian, member of nordic race, hun, kraut and most of all a happy n00b flying Oleg`s favorite plane, the 109 which Oleg himself fixed up so Nazi revisionists can change history - in game nonetheless. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Well, maybe it was a metaphor?

Metaphor: metaphor

noun {C or U}

an expression which describes a person or object in a literary way by referring to something that is considered to possess similar characteristics to the person or object you are trying to describe

I agree with tis post.

Instead of worrying wchich side is winning, fly BOTH sides.

On another note tho, its not Nazi sympathy, its sympathy for the outnumbered, brave fighter pilots who did their job to the best of their ability even when maasively outnumbered. Whether it be the Brits/Anzacs in the Battle of Britain and attacking 200 He111's with another 200 Me109Es above, or the German fighter pilots in 1944-45 tackling 300 B17s in their flight of 20 battered aircraft http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
