I observed so many tankers can be sunk just by one torp especially in convoy attack. From the other side I couldn't do the same with alone sailing or berthed in port tankers.
Is it depending on full loaded ships in convoy trips and empty ships sailing alone ???

yes. A fully loded tanker can and usaly do explode because of the flamables they carrie. Whlil emty tankers, filling a hold with water is no worse than filling it with oil/gas. Better than a war ship I say.

True, but a well aimed torpedo at the engine section is sometimes enough to kill a T3, not sure about the T2's though - stubbon ships!! While the Small Tanker is a 1 shot kill - empty or full.

I guess these observations are based upon using the standard game damage modelling? If you are using the NYGM or Grey Wolves mods you may need different tactics. Any Grey Wolves skippers want to share their observations?

What differences have you noticed so far Goose? (apart from obvious things like the loading screen)

what i have noticed is that shot placement is a lot more important with gw...and it's never certin how long things are going to float or sink..overall gw has given new to sh3 on a very large scale [imho]..right now i'm adding the last 4 ships to the sea /roster folders..1 more file to dl ..and see if it's good..also the convoys in gw vary greatly..i thinks that's great.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Not had time to play much of the game lately - XP keeps on throwing wobblies and I have been too busy to spend a few hours playing.

The only things are the Recognition book is different in layout, loading screens etc plus there are a few extra ships chucked in too.

And the sinking times of ships are really varied - you could end up pumping up to 4 torpedoes into the same ship and it some how denies to be sunk. The damage model is the same as the Tonnage War mod I believe.

With GW I always aim at the front end of a cargo ship to try and drag one end under. With tankers I start by firing a salvo of 2 and hoping that is enough. Same with light cruisers. But it often takes more.
