I have 46 on order and in-bound, I was wondering what the new Corsair and the carriers look like. Does anyone have a video of the whispering death landing on a carrier in 46? Thnks. Because I am planning to uninstall my
PF+FB+AEP and then install 46. I sure hope I find that my new F4U is there and somewhat the same, that-is after I spend some time exploring all the new and unusual AC.

New carriers? new Corsair? What are you talking about? they look like they looked in PF as far as i can tell. can you be a little more specific?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I guess that answers my question, I just thought the models might be different or more realistic thats all, I thought maybe the wake of the carrier would go farther out and fad-away more realisticly instead of just stopping, or maybe the deck was more complicated etc. Thnks anyway

Here is my take on the 4.07 Corsair:

What do you mean by different or more realistic? You are being very very very very vague. Can you please try to narrow down one of your concerns to a specific? maybe then I can answer. As it is, I couldn't possibly guess as to what you need to know<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I pictured the 46 as having a little more going on with the deck of the carrier; maybe the cable doesnt snap-back in a blink when the tail hook is raised, or maybe I can bail from the cockpit and run on the deck, or maybe I can refuel and re-launch. But dont get all upset, I like the sim, I'm just curious thats all.

I can't imagine who told you there was more 'content' on carriers or why you'd think I'm upset. I've been going out of my way to try and help you<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The only "new" things in the 46 add on will be the new Objects for placing in the full mission builder, the 1946 plane set that has all of the "what if" planes, and the new flyables and AI that came with the Manchuria add on, as well as 3 maps i believe.
Other than that it's flight model changes (new joystick setting) and other tweaks to planes as far as i know.
Nothing from the series up to PF has been improved model wise as far as i've heard.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It's a bit of a publishing fudge. A few months ago UBI published a DVD version of IL2FB/AEP/PF and that should have been it. Period. But no. A tweak here and there, an extra plane or two and a lot of promotional guff for the new series, which I'm sure will be sensational but otherwise I could take it or leave it. and ANOTHER DVD version appears, making the previous one obsolete. It's only natural you should expect additional FEATURES. Then again I went out and bought it even though I already have the three CDs and am patched up to 4.04m. Why? Because the additional patches for networking etc pretty much made it necessary. I'm still playing offline and until then IL2/46 will be staying in my bottom drawer.

To be fair, the IL-2 Complete Edition DVD had everything up to v4.04m, so it included much more than an extra plane or two. It had everything that customers would have gotten by buying the three parts of the series separately (FB, AEP, and PF) and installing them in order, and then downloading five upgrade patches. So look at the Complete Edition DVD as a convenience of sorts: for newcomers it was a relatively cheap and easy way to get the most recent version of the game at that moment. With a quick glance at the Read-Mes for the patches from FB+AEP+PF 3.0 up to 4.02m, I see ten new flyables and eight new maps, plus new language files, new objects, new DGen campaigns, new AI planes and ground objects ... The 4.03m patch added a bunch more flyables including the Tempest V, Mosquito, the Italian Machis, Ju-88, N1K2-JA, and the Do-335.

Anyhow, whatever your feelings are on the 1946 DVD may be, it also includes more than just a few tweaks and an extra couple of planes. If you look at how it could have been marketed -- as three incremental add-ons for FB+AEP+PF (or the Complete Edition DVD), the price of all three add-ons would have come close to or exceeded the cost of the current 1946 DVD anyhow. And 1946 does include the three Russian market add-ons developed by Russian Rocket Group (http://www.rrgstudios.com/) following Pacific Fighters:
1. Pe-2 Peshka (aka 'Dive Bomber Stories)
2. Sturmoviks Over Manchuria
3. 46'

In addition to the six flyable versions of the Pe-2 and Pe-3 from the Pe-2 Peshka add-on already released last summer, the 1946 DVD adds as new:

Flyables
Nakajima Ki-27 Ko, 1938
Nakajima Ki-27 Otsu, 1938
Nakajima Ki-43-II, 1942
Nakajima Ki-43-II Kai, 1943
Mitsubishi J2M5, 1944
Kawanishi N1K2-Ja, 1944
Arado Ar-234B Blitz
Dornier Do-335V-13
Heinkel He-L-IIIB-2 Lerche
Heinkel He-162B
Heinkel He-162C
Messerschmitt Me-262HG-II
Focke-Wulf Ta-152C
Focke-Wulf Ta-183
Douglas A-20C, 1941
Ilyushin Il-10, 1945
Bereznyak-Isaev BI-6
Lavochkin LaGG-3R
Lavochkin La-7R
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-9 Prototype
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-9FS
Mikoyan-Gurevich I-250 (MiG-13)
Yakovlev Yak-3 VK-107A
Yakovlev Yak-3R
Yakovlev Yak-15

AI Planes
Mitsubishi A5M4, 1938
Nakajima B6N2, 1943
Mitsubishi Ki-21-I, 1937
Mitsubishi Ki-21-II, 1940

Maps
Manchuria
Burma
Khalkin-Gol (online)
Kiev

Plus numerous new ground objects. I recommend that you look at RRG's website for more information about those.

The 1946 DVD has been much maligned for for its futuristic, hyphothetical slant. But trust me, grab Ian Boys' Burma DGen campaign (http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=144;t=006070) and all is good. Also, the new static campaigns that come with 1946 are well written and interesting to read. And, as a bonus, you also get the original static campaigns written for IL-2 Sturmovik.
