yes they are.

hmmm the Ki84c in use on the late war server they host...

an aircraft that can chase down the established american big names and literally tear them apart. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

still a tad vulnerable to gunfire and catches fire all too quickly, but i have taken to the b version nicely, but the creme is the c.

its peculiar how, when you fly a zero and suffer the results of six .50s chopping you up, you recognise the relative power of those guns against that airframe.

i often suffer derision and those ever irritating and mystifyingly immature noob calls when i gun someone down in the C.... all its doing, is what US navy and army planes have been doing to zeros from year dot. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

now theres an IJA plane chopping them to bits, it often bruises some buttocks quite badly, theyre just not used to being disassembled mid air by japanese guns.

i like it, i find it forces the american flyers to respect the Ki84s teeth and not treat it as just another zero.

what i hope does not happen is the whiners used to flying superior american aircraft, dont cry about being outclassed and outgunned, and have it withdrawn thru force of lament. Anyone who has been flying Zeros should be very familiar with the fear of being shot, even once... its good to hand such punishment back once in a while. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The Ki84c will be around for a while. Yes it is a strong plane with massive guns... but it still is easy to shoot down. I have found that flying the p-47d against it with extra ammo does a nice job of taking it down. You can take the hits and with all of that ammo I just spray shots until the ki is a fireball!

As with most of the planes in this game pilot skill and good old fashioned teamwork go a long way.

Ki-84c - big deal http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Some fly it well, some fly it as if nothing can touch it and get hacked up by those big US fighters Engaurde loves to hate.

I have been flying IJAAF/IJN almost exclusively of late. Mostly because they are undermanned much of the time. I really prefer the KI61 (Can we please have the Otsu?), as it has a more durable airframe than any other Japanese aircraft, and it flys well, and is darned good looking too... And it also is by far the best ground attack weapon the IJAAF currently has in PF.

However, I usually end up in a Ki84 of one flavour or another as it is the only way to be even remotely competitive in a server full of high performance Allied aircraft. That is just the way it is. And before you Allied flyers start yelling n00b, how many of you would fly a late P40 if it were available?

Also it seems that the maps have become WAY more flak intensive of late... why?

It's going to be interesting when the Ki-100 gets thrown into the mix, it might prove to be a handy plane on the dogfight servers.

Relatively robust (for a Japanese plane), decent speed, good maneuverabilty; not quite a Ki-84, but in the hands of people who are used to the Hien, it might be quite effective.

The Ki100 is a big unknown. Yes it will be a more maneuverable and better accelerating/climbing Ki61, but, it is 2mph slower than a Ki61.

I fear it will not be fast enough...
