OK, so I've decided to buy a TrackIr. What version/model should I buy, from where (price low=good)?

Regards,

Me

well, i'm in the uk, and i just bought track ir about a month ago from these guys

http://www.edimensional.com/?ref=73

i just checked there website, and it says they deliver anywhere in europe. There was another place in uk that was ever so slightly cheaper, but i had to wait...

they have trackir 4, which is what i got, and trackir 3 listed. I couldnt tell you how much difff there is between the two though.

By the way, its the best toy i have ever bought, even better than my lego when i was a kid!

hope this helps, fruitbat

I don't have one, but I will before BOB. 4 allows for a larger field of view than 3 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I suggest you have a look at this page:
http://www.airwarfare.com/AWX/features/reviews/trackir4_review.htm
If you follow the link on top of the page it has a discount offer. Check out whether this would be a cheaper option for you.

TIR4 does not provide a wider field of view than previous versions of TIR in PF. The fields of view in the game are what the game provides. TIR4 has a larger field of view for itself (than 3), which gives it a greater precision when tracking.

I have the TrackIR3 Pro and a friend of mine has the TRackIR4 Pro.
TrackIR3 cost less but you will have to buy the addon pack to get all of the degrees head movments that the TrackIR4 has (but on the other hand Pacific Fighters does not support the extra degrees of head movement however Microsoft Flight Simulator does and its awsome).
The TrackIR4 has a wider scanning field of view but I have found that this is of no importance unless you want it to keep tracking you head movements even after you have fallen out of your chair during a hard banking turn.
The best thing about my friends TrackIR4 though is that it filters background light out better than my TrackIR3 does. Even when I run the light filter setting all the way up, my TrackIR3 still cant filter the light out from a window that is 20 feet beind me (I use a heavy curtain to cover it up and it works). My friend that has the TrackIR4 has a window 4 feet behind him (with a thin curtain) and his TRackIR4 filters out the light perfectly.
I would have purchased the TRackIR4 but I was on a budget and just couldnt swing the extra bucks at the time. However it did give me a good opertunity to compare my version 3 with my friends version 4.

The 4 is also a better option if you are offline .. the vector expansion for the three requires online activation

I live in northern Sweden and ordered mine from edimensional this January. Good fast service. I recommend them. Get the TrackIr4.

We still search people to lower the price. 20ppl means 130" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
