Ok, so today I brought 7 homing torpedoes with me, it is March of 1944. The convoys are quite

heavily escorted by now, and i had the feeling i would need them. Indeed I did! The convoy was

weakly escorted, i guess i was just lucky. 4 DD's a Flower and a Blak Swan frigate. Well,

fire at will as they say. One homing torpedo veered off and hit a T2, not sinking it. The

others however sank all of the escorts http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif This is the last escort going down

And this is the hydrophone picture of a de-escorted convoy. Time to party! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

i usually keep away from escorts, especially later in the war. better play it safe than be sorry later http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
good job though, it takes guts http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I had the similar experiences, one of the time (around 40 or 41), there were 2 Flower Corvettes and 2 Armed Trawlers only! I though why waste precious torpedos (I was in a VII)? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif
So I surfaced and engaged the escorts with my deck gun! But those C2s, small merchants all equiped with deck gun too! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif What a fight! I managed to finish all of them with deck gun (yes, I added about 40 rounds of HE, so that I had 200 rounds), without crew lost, but my Hull Integrity was only a little above 50% http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

I will never did that again http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif too dangerous.

Nice attack Foehammer but do u still use impact torps in March 1944? Judging from that log book entry "Torpedo impact"

Magnetic Falke torpedoes. When a magnetic one detonates, it says "Torpedo impact"

And for the other poster, no it's a IXb. I got the XXI with the renown i got before and on the above patrol. 96,000 this time, because i wasted 2 torps on a T2 that wouldn't sink http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
