the ability to attach barrage ballons to ships is way too cool..as well as more options for deck cargoes...the ballons add a super real feeling to convoys ... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I also noticed little ships cruising around home ports with barrage balloons - ringing a bell, I think, unless it's coming from somewhere else.

The bell sound is coming from the navigation buoys. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The Bell is the bouys.
Has anyone been in Harbor during and Air Raid?

I got back after one once, buildings on fire, smoke plumes everywhere. There was even a merchant ship half sunk - sorry, didn't think to take any screenies.
Pity I hadn't been there earlier to see the fireworks.

No harbor air raids yet. I just got off my lazy bum and DLed/installed it this weekend past. Aside from the harbors no longer being ghost towns, I have noticed a definite upgrade in merchant behavior realism. I have only barely started a patrol, and already I have witnessed a neutral sail between my boat and a merchant I was about to finish off (at less than 600 meters and in the dead of night). That same doomed merchant, dead in the water, get it's engines fixed during this delay and start moving again. Also the sea lanes seem to be more defined. The neutral ship lighting is a god-send, and the graphics are awesome.

Thank you most kindly Wolves! ...and good work. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Oh right. So they're, er, "Bell Buoys" then. Q

And Air Raids in harbour.... it got a bit odd while playing WAC that at the start of each patrol, from Bergen, I'd wait for five minutes for a bunch of Liberators to come over and bomb. Happened every time. A couple of times I left the pen and opened up with my flak but after a while I thought, "I'll stay in the pen and leave it up to the shore AA guns - they need practice".

Started a patrol with GWX from La Spezia and we had an air raid. I moved base to Toulon but, in Feb 44, something tells me I'm not going to win this war so I've got a transfer to Bordeaux - the Med is getting way too difficult: I was just escaping from attacking one small convoy and three escorts when a much bigger convoy came along from the opposite direction. I had no torpedoes left (and the external view showed about 8 escorts) so I crept out of their way.

My first patrol from Bordeaux sends me to the mid-Atlantic for some fun in the sun.
