View Full Version : German Aces

Over the past few weeks our squadron has switched from fighting Japanese aces to German aces. I might be wrong but I think that the German pilots fight smarter in this game than the Japanese do.
I also added some new video of last Friday nights engagement with four FW-190 aces to our website.
One of our members was complaining about coms being a little garbled but I think they are more realistic that way (the sound quality kind of reminds me of some of the radio traffic that I've heard in those old vietman era dogfighting clips).
Check it out you guys and let me know what you think either here or on our message board.

I just checked an it looks like my web host has the servers down. They do this once a month or so to update things.
Its usually only down for a few hours though.

HI mate, what do you mean German 'Aces'? Do you mean the ace AI in the game on a coop or some Human pilots in an online dogfight?

Very nice video, thanks!

Just one note tho, is that your framerate as you are playing? Because it looks quite jerky to me on that movie. This would make the game very very hard to play and so difficult to aim and shoot.

I would turn the graphics down a bit and ensure you are always getting above 30 fps, or get a new graphics cards/more RAM. You will find the game so much easier.

Of course your game may be really smooth and its just that movie which is a little jerky.

I really enjoyed watching it tho, thanks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hi guys I liked watching your vids they were cool, its great that you have also included your TS conversation too. I think you guys would like to fly on UKD 1 or 2. There is a map where the Royal Navy try and sink the Tirpitz you can take your Corsairs, take off from a Royal Navy Carrier and engage in some air to air with Luftwaffe Fw 190's and Bf 109's. Id be happy to fly with you guys or against you. The Fw 190 can be even more effective with a couple of good human pilots in it. Against AI you have to be really careful with engaging Fw 190s head ons but against humans the Fw 190 is a tough opponent across the board.

Xiolablu3,

The frame rate in the game is fine. Its just the movie that looks a little slow because I record them at 10 frames per second.

mynameisroland,

When you say TS conversion I guess you mean Team Speak?
Actually we use the built in voice coms in the game because when we record the track it also records our voices.
The only mixing I do is just to add music to the background.

I was messing around with the mission builder the other day and noticed that we can create tank battles and watch them fight it out from the air...COOL!

Come and fly with us on UKdedicted , Server 2 is better becasue it has cockpit on, but Server 1 is great too if noones on 2.

THey are like coops but with all human pilots, each side has an objective, usually ground targets which each team has to destroy. Or you can win by destroying all the other sides planes (but this doesnt happen too often unlress bombers attack the enemy airfields.)

Come and give it a try, I am sure you would like it a lot after watching your video!

No, Battle FIelds server, run by fans of the game who play and pay for the server upkeep.

www.battle-fields.com (http://www.battle-fields.com)

Come to the forum at that site and we will help you join.

BFs IL2 forum :- http://www.battle-fields.com/commscentre/forumdisplay.php?f=36

In Hyper Lobby and All Seeing Eye (free downloadable server browsers, search for them in google to find them) the servers are listed as UKdedicated1 and UKdedicated2 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hope to see you there for game. If oyu have never tried one of these type of servers then you are in for a treat.

Hey Xiolablu3,

Drop me a line at deadly@vfa107.com
I jumped on one of those servers tonight. The settings are not exactly like we fly but are not to bad.
Most of the time when we fly our missions I will edit the map between missions. We wouldnt have that control on those servers.
Also, we would like to fly with other squadrons but like using the built in coms for our missions and I dont think many other squads do this. We use Roger Wilco for our main voice chat and we keep a server running most of the time which can be accessed on our communications page (but for actual missions we use the built in coms).
If the built in voice coms were a bit more popular with the other squadrons no one would have to download specific software for voice coms (which is a real pain).
The built in coms can be a little scratchy and garbled from time to time but being able to watch a recorded track of the mission complete with voice playback makes it well worth it for us. If the coms get really bad its no big deal because we also run RW in the backgroud for backup.
