View Full Version : Lack of Aircraft

I've played many a patrol out on the open sea. Either I've picked up a blind watch officer or there is just a total lack of aircraft. Did I go through that d***ed aircraft targetting practice for nothing? Axis aircraft are also oddly missing in my sorties. I was quite excited about the prospect of aircraft, however, I do not see it! It's probably just me, and I'm actually not sure why I am ranting here. Anyways, do not get any misconceptions from this, I love the game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Early in the war you dont have to worry to much about AC but they are there, especially near land. By '43 you'll look back on this time with fondness as you wont be able to leave the French bases without being constantly harrased by B-24s.

check the hard copy map that came with your game in the box, look at allied air coverage for 1939.... then look at the coverage for 1943.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Some aircraft found me in my very first career mission in 1939 (in quandrant AN56). Somehow I forgot to add the flak gun to my U-boat so my only choice was to dive for safety!

Having been bombed repeatly by hurricanes off of the northern UK coast when the weather was clear, I can only guess that you've been lucky or just not near enough to the air patrol routes. Give it some time and a few more lend-lease shipments. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you are disappointed with the aircraft, you could try the airpower mod.

What u want luftwaffe to do. Their airforce was not built for these tasks. Sure they had a few 4 engine A/C but they were searching only if I am not mistaken. There were a few in north norway cause the Murmansk convoys were forced to go into range of the 2 engine bombers. Other than that the luftwaffe resources were constaly stretched and they were engaged either there or there. So the 4 engined can probably spot the murmansk concoys and the gibraltar convoys, I have to admit I dont know how far the Condors reached with only fuel and no bombs.

I saw my first Sunderlands in Dec 1942, shot down all 4 of them http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Up until then it was always Hurricanes and Swordfishes, they aways got shot down as well.

Bring on the B24s I say, I have 1 Heavy flack and 2 Dual 20mm all manned by pr0 flack crews.
