Does anyone know how to set B17s in a box formation? I have FB/AEP with Battle Over Euope by Just Flight, hope to get PF soon....It would be cool if it was possible....B29s and B24s and B17s in a boxhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have a coop mission that someone designed (I forget who) where 109s and 190s attack B-17s in historically accurate box formation.

If I knew of a way to host files I would give it to you. I have 20mb of web space, but when I put the links to the files on here it just gives a dead link.

There are several "box" formations the USAAF used during the war so it depends what sources you can get hold of to work the positionings out from.

The problem I found for doing this in FB in FMB is that each individual plane needs to be a separate element due to the varying altitude each adjacent plane flies at. The formations can be quite tight, and usually after a few minutes flying one or more planes will take evasive action to avoid a collison and break the whole thing up.

Still it can be done, and I normally set the mission up just at the point where an intercept is about to take place which tends to break the formation up anyway.

Well, thats my experience at least.

I think there is a good diagram of the "Javelin down" formation somewhere on the net.

Ah, here we go:
