Hey all,
After getting my new PC all setup, I started playing this game again. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif However, because it's much more powerful and has a better graphic card than what I had before, I seem to have to relearn how to fly etc. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif

I'm currently fine tuning my Joystick settings (Top Gun Fox 2 Pro USB) and wanted you all to share your settings for the La-5FN so I can come up with a baseline for mine. Thanks all! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Not many profess to fly the La-5FN as their primary plane so you may not get much response. But I'd try here: http://www.airwarfare.com/tech/sticks.htm

There's an Oleg official settings for his stick that may work for you. I just use default for now but I may play with things later.

Shamless plug...but if you like the La-5FN then you may want to go and download my Red Stars - Karelian Offensive 1944 campaign here: http://www.flying-legends.net/php/downloads/listings.php?cat_id=28

IceFire, thanks! Just any responce is better than none. Once I feel comfortable with my new PC and the new retraining I need, I'll see what I come up with as for settings. As for the La-5/La-7 series. I have flown these far more than any other in this game and I'm quite comfortable flying them. Sure they ain the best, but who said the P-40 could not give the Zero some headaches! Just ask the AVG http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Anyhow, thanks again http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

You might also ask in the Il-2 FB General Discussion firum, since this forum is about Pacific Fighters- and the La-5fn shouldn't be available in that sim unless it's a merged install. Soviet aircraft, don't you know

You may as well fish where the fishes are

I find the La-5fn to be one of the best all around aircraft in the game. but I also don't change joystick settings for each aircraft

Undoubtedly I am missing the finer tweaking of the sim by not adjuxting every little thing and control we have in the sim still learning it yet I wonder the value of "setting the stick to "a" plane".

Granted, I fly online, coops 99% of the time, and that means varied planes. However, I still don't see myself setting the stick up even if I flew just one....My reason being;

I do not set the stick per plane yet adjust the stick to match my natural/instinctual way I manipulate the stick. IOW (though am always playing with these settings)...If I tend to over correct roll, I'll soften that, under correct pith, then make it more active, etc..

Not based on planes but how I tend to without thinking work the stick. Then, I adjust how "I" handle the stick/hence plane on a plane by plane basis.

Now I'm positive that does not dial me in to be the optimum slayer in each particular plane. However it strikes me as how one would naturally fly...You pilot the plane as it needs by adjusting your style on a case by case basis, NOT adjusting the controls of the plane.

Am I really missing out by doing this?

Also, I do the same for my guns not setting them for their optimal range etc. based on type, but set them to converge where I "reflexively" tend to fire on the average leaving my convergence floating between 150-200m.

Actually the La-7 in particular is the best in its class http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yo guys,
Last night....very late I was able to come up with my own settings that helped hugely my flying problems. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif That web site was very informative and set me on the right path and soon enough, my "waddeling" back and forth while flying was nearly ziltch, Pitch was was way improved and the dam aircraft performed MUCH better to the point I was giving Ole Gustav some headaches! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

LEBillfish, you seem to be doing fine if your tweaking your settings. Granted, I fly plenty of other aircraft and they seem to exhibit the same general problems I have been having. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif Just the difference is the fighters I fly tend to magnify the problems I have. So getting the La-5FN to fly correctly to me means I'll get the other aircraft to fly correctly as well. Anyway, thanks again everyone. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

You guys got me to start playing with my settings. This may help alot once I get the hang of it. I'm already very smooth and precise in my stick movement but tweaking the settings seems to have done me some good.

In RL plane stick are quite different but you really have to set your joy are the most comfortability for you and the way your react, fast or slower it all depend to you . Move it a lot or not. My advise is to really play with it and test until you find one that you feel good on it. Joystic settings plane by plane would be the best really but .... impossible to do that on FB, i wish to be able to make many profiles
