View Full Version : Awarding of medals in SH3 realistic ?

I recently completed my 3rd patrol in my Type IXB. I had the Iron Cross 2nd Class when I went out. I came back after a highly successful patrol and got the Iron cross 1st class, u boat front badge, and the Knights cross. I figured out its based on renown but is its realistic to be awarded that amount and type of medals after one patrol ? It doesn't reflect what I have seen in the German army and Luftwaffe where you have to earn each medal in turn. So bottom line, is this realistic ? If not, is there a mod to change it ? Thanks for any insight.

That's a tough one. I think it is realistic, in terms of the game engine, that is, the assumption will be that you will only earn 'x' renown over 'x' period of time. So, if you go out and have a whale of a patrol (200K, oh my!) it throws the game out of whack, awarding you an excessive number of medals. But in real life it would definetley not happen that way... OK, maybe for a 200K patrol, but even then...
