1. I have combed over the reference card for the radiator controls... the control I see is 'Cowl or Armor Flaps'... is that it?

2. What is a Feather Prop?

I started a dynamic campaign with the USSR... on my first mission we are escorting IL2s and the action picks up in flight... as soon as the game starts I hear 'What the hell? Stay with the leader!' Well if you would give me a second I WOULD! Not to mention, the documentation to help me understand that I have to wait for those damn planes or where they are would be nice! Also, how the hell do they expect people to fly in formation on the FIRST MISSION!

wow this is frustrating

Yes, "Cowl or Armor Flaps" refers to the radiator controls.

A "feathered prop" (object) or "feathering the prop" (action) refers to changing the pitch (angle of) the propellor blades on a dead engine so that they are parallel to the oncoming airflow. This reduces the amount of drag that they produce.

Yeah, the campaigns can be somewhat frustrating at first. For the problems you mentioned (how do I know where to go?, how can I stay in formation on my first flights?) I would recommend just using the autopilot until the action starts, then turning it off. You can then use the external views to see how the formations look, etc.

This game has a steep learning curve, but when you see yourself making progess on it, it is very rewarding.

Thanks for answering my questions.

As for the autopilot suggestion- great suggestion- its just so obvious now, that should help me cope with this steep learning curve!

Thanks again!
