sounds like a dumb question but how the heck do I find servers?....I know I can play on line...have been to one server....but he says it's his own personal server and when he's done flying he shuts it down....what's a flyboy to do?....Big John

Do you have 1946? Thats the latest IL2 release with all the patches and addons at a bargain price.

You use Hyperlobby to find servers from :-

http://hyperfighter.sk/

Make sure you get the latest 4.71 patch.

If you dont have 1946, tell us which version you have. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If oyu are new to the game I suggest Ukdedicated1, as the settings are relaxed, externals on, cockpit off (ctrl-f1 (or is it shift f1? one of those anyway) to go to full view), padlock on (F6 key air, F7 key ground), combined with excellent maps and admins.

Ukded server forums :-

http://www.battle-fields.com/commscentre/forumdisplay.php?f=36

They will help you with any issues you have on the servers and tell you the rules, server commands, etc.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I should have mentioned the other good servers actually, but I assumed that he would want the easier settings UKded1 offers.

As thrud says, if you want harder, full real'ish' settings try :-

Historia
Winds Of War
Warclouds
Spits Vs 109's
Rnzolis COop server

Sorry if I missed a few.

I do recommend that you try the easier settings of Ukded1 if you are a novice tho, you will probbaly feel a bit overwhelmed in the harder servers if you are still learning to fly.

I started on the 'arena' arcade servers and naturally graduated to the harder servers as I wanted a new challenge each time. Ukded1 gives you the easier setings, but without the arcade-like arena, it has historical planesets and maps for each battle and each side has ground targets to destroy in order to win the map, much like the servers listed above. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Make sure you have a joystick, and make your chat box bigger by dragging hte corner with your mouse. Make it 5 or 6 lines so that you can se the server messages about targets, chat etc.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
