This has to be the longest poll question in history. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I voted historical.

The oftentimes obscure line between historical vs playability is a hard thing to define, but I would say that a historically accurate scenario for a coop would be the best "middle ground".

The Pearl Harbor scenario wouldn't be very accurate if both sides had the same number of pilots and equal opportunity to achieve adequate altitude. As is well known, there were only a handful of American pilots that even got airborne that day and those that did had little or no success (with rare exceptions).

It would be difficult to have victory objectives for scripted DF play for the Americans because of the extreme surprise accomplished by the Japanese.

wow i never noticed the oil slicks before. see something new all the time. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

the oil slicks are produced by putting lots and lots of the oildrums inside a ship, and they become slicks with the first explosion http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Something that has aaa artilery placed under the ships and ship aaa off for fps issues to give the vals a chance and after bombing stopping the aaa guns for a bit till they respawn. Hopefully we will be getting the p36 for a pearl mission and h75s for some french planeset missions flyable soon and new japanese ac as well for some better pto missions.

I want one where I can fly a Kate (with the cockpit). Can you do that? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I enjoy creating coop missions. I have fun making them and testing them. I know from experience that it can be difficult to get enough people to fly in them, so I try not to get too much time invested in any one mission.

I try to do "semi-historic" missions, to provide a kind of cinematic experience of what happened, or at least an approximation of it. If the scale gets too big, lag sets in and you wind up with an online slide-show instead of an enjoyable gaming experience.

No matter what you do, you'll get whiners go on about missions that aren't perfectly balanced. This contradicts the main principle of warfare which is to never engage in a fair fight. For coop's, though, you try to achieve some balance.

The Pearl Harbor attack is an example of a mission that can't be balanced and still be historically accurate.

Besides historic missions, I don't see why you couldn't also do "what if" missions, presenting an alternate "history."

I'm doing some B-25 "parafrag" missions. Even though Rabaul and some of the other Japanese bases aren't available, I come up something that resembles Rabaul, and call it good enough.

Good luck with your coop missions.

Another point: if your mission is laggy during testing, it will be worse online, because of all the necessary communications between online players.

My advice is to model snippets of a battle, not the entire historically correct one.

I'd really like to play a Pearl Harbor mission where one would actually see American Battleships. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

Hey, they couldn't get it right for a $150 million dollar movie recreating one battle. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif What makes you think 1C can do better http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Not only do I want the real US ships, but I want to fly a Kate so I can torpedo one or drop a bomb on one.

I'd feel bad doing it to the Arizona, so maybe one of the others. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Now that I think about it, maybe I don't really want a Pearl Harbor mission after all unless I'm in one of the P-40's.

Oh great, now I'm depressed.

Reminds me of an amusing anecdote, though: a friend of mine's father was in the Navy serving in Hawaii (this was in the 60's). He was approached by several Japanese Naval personnel who were sightseeing and they asked him if he could tell them were the Arizona was?

He told them, "Right were you left it", and walked away.

Yeah, he was a Machinist's Mate, not an officer and a gentleman.

i think many are waiting for something better than 'generic' battleships and 'generic' carriers......... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
