View Full Version : Finally, "Solid Nosed" B-25 stafers!

Jester's and I were comparing details on a new B25 template a couple of Sundays ago while Team Speak and Ink noticed that his hard work bled over the glass area. I had noticed this behavior before but this was the first time someone else experience it. So after a while we noticed it was a bonifide bug that works in Quick Mission builder and coops as long as the person in a coop does not take the skin used by the solid nose B25 AI.

Here are some screens of some skins we made using this "bug"

To help out the campaing builder I created a silly coop that the user must play (not fly) while in the full mission builder.

Lastly for you guys that would like to try it out here is a link to the skins

When you unzip this file make sure you copy the same skins to these folders

Here are other tidbits of information.

1. The bug exploit does not affect your game play, it's available to all that have at least 4.08
2. In order to have a solid nosed B25J fly along side in your coop you must place a B25H after you have placed all of your J. Then select the same skin for the H and the J.
3. If you want to fly along side your Solid Nosed AI you must select a different skin that is not being flown by the AI B25J or the B25H.

Too bad the bug does not provide the 8 pack 50's but for immersion they look pretty nice.

From Jester and I, we hope you have a good time.

We were kind of hoping that it would become an option, seeing as it is in game already. Now if that nice man Mr. Oleg sees this, "please Mr. Oleg" can we have this as an option?

It would be really nice if we had a real solid nose B-25J. The factory equipped and factory supplied field kits gave the -J eight 50 caliber mg's in the nose, plus the four in the cheek packs makes twelve. If I recall correctly, the top turret could also be locked facing forward to add an additional pair of 50's to this awesome punch.

Actually you'd think a solid nose B-25 would have been included and first on the list, for the simple fact you don't have to model a gun station, just 8 sticky out bits on the front of the plane....oh, sorry Guns!

Nice bug workaround the Mr.Johnson ('Guse)

We've had many other beneficial things removed because they were "bugs."

The ability to "park" AI planes? Removed as a bug.

The ability to get AI to skip bomb? Removed as a bug.

There are more, I'd not call anyone's attention to it, I'm not sure lateral thinking is appreciated http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yeah im amazed that they have not been made flyable, wen flying an A.I. solid nose B25 evrything works fine on it, all they need to do is put the interior vieuws from the B25 we have now on it exept for the nosegunner/bomber positions and its done.

Only the b25h would be able to have the bombadier removed. The other ground attack with the 75mm cannon has a bottom turret and the tail is wierd.

I might add...

The B25G should have the bottom turret removed as most if not all operational units removed them as it gave the gunner extreme vertigo. The tail gunner on the G is somewhat different as it was at times field modified. Other than this and some internal cosmetics if the developer deems needed, the pilot compartment is different.

On the H model it's only the pilot compartment needs an update.

As for a basic painted glass B25J nosed strafer, what we have is more than adequate. The only change would be no bombardier's compartment and bomb sight. Just add the 8 50 caliber machine guns on the nose and we are done.

If however a solid nose is required, that would take some time as the 3D model would been to be updated to lengthen and taper the solid gun housing.

I'd vote for a corrected G H and a J glass nosed strafer to keep things simpler.

Actually the painted glass versons had 5 total guns in the nose like the Ds did, not 8 as far as I know.
