I read this at SimHQ

Oleg showed us a short clip depicting the modeling of moving parcels of air (http://www.simhq.com/_all/all_019b.html)

Is this the case and how detailed will these effects be? I'm soooooooo excited! this feature alone will put BoB head and shoulders above FB, Lock-on, or anything else out there.

Thats what the review said... Hey man... why are you surprised? FB is based on an engine that is 6-7 years old if you consider developement time if not older... yet it is STILL the absofrickinlutelybest WWII flight sim on the market... what do you expect for the 21st century from the folks who brought you IL2?

I have no doubts that the bar will be raised even higher... and that BoB will be to IL2 what IL2 was to CFS2...

There's dynamic and there is dynamic. I bet our expectations will exceed the reality.

Windsocks please!

I think Oleg used to say that he plans to introduce flyable gliders to the game and therefore the engine needs thermic air streams or what do you call it in English.

Now my white flying scarf will flutter in the wind.

Yep, new titles are almost always delayed by weeks or months.

Two weeks, be sure. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

ive been waiting for dynamic (hopefully constantly shifting weather) for some time.

Upper level winds, surface winds etc. This game has already got me ahead of the game in real life flying (Tailwheel, private license), i imagine if they do weather right this can help me even more.

I had not flown in 4 weeks in the citabria, played IL2 practicing tailwheel landings for 2 hours, then jumped into the citabria and amazed my instructor and he signed me off!

I'm not surprised, but I'm used to disappointment. Most criticism about the game seem to focus on the particulars of flight performance, fine-tuning the last 2%. But the IL2 series (like every other combat flight sim) have far more abbreviated atmosphere than any aircraft FM. Turbulence, air-pockets, micro-bursts, thermals and downdraft's are only crudely scripted or ignored. The atmosphere is a churning ocean with personality and consequence. What we have in-game is a vacuous and and dead.

However much fidelity is added to the atmospheric model(AM) it will only be a model. I guess what I reality want to discuss is what the features of this new model are.

Should make level bombing interesting, with the need to factor in dift and winds aloft.

Yeah, I can't believe it, either. In fact, I don't believe it.

Entertainment software is a world full of big-distributor pressures, unexpected issues and last minute changes. It's almost a tradition that must be a fight between selling companies and development teams to determine what the date for release will be. It would be very unlikely -and certainly excepcional- that BoB will be completed in time for the release date, and certainly, I hope so. I prefer to wait some months more instead of having a rushed product -I'm thinking of 'Knights of the Old Republic II' right now.

Err.... Ahh....

I think you'll just miss a lot more, honestly. There's a reason they developed smart bombs -- adjusting for winds aloft is nearly impossible. The F-16 (and probably most US planes) has an avionic function to adjust for a great number of wind layers, but it's not really usable in practice. Unless, of course, the target is surrounded by weather balloons. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif
