To All,

If I might inquire, when referencing a Pilot / Plane from a particular fighter squadron, do you list fighter squadron frist or fighter group?

EG. 404th FG / 507th FS or 507th FS / 404th FG

The standard, such as it is with TOEs anyway, is Group/Squadron. Casually, there is no incorrect sequence.

Contrary to the "team player" aspects so often spoke of today, the Japanese very often individualized not only their naming conventions yet also their flying style. As though the individual was the primary focus.

Taii Ktu ? 1 Shoutai ? 2 Chuutai ? 78 Sentai ? 14 Hikoudan ? 4 Koukuugun ? Dai-Nippon Teikoku Rikugun Koukuutai...

Captain Ktu, of the 1st Flight, of the 2nd Company, of the 78th Air Regiment, of the 14th Air Brigade, (independant from a Division so excluded even if Sr.), of the 4th Air Army, of the Imperial Japanese Army Flying Corps.

You'll even see that in reports and accounts where the individual is of primary concern, it working up from there to suit what is being said.
