For those who are interested, this video shows details of the G-2 and the Spit Mark Vc (trop) in Belgrade, Serbia,

I have seen this plane up close too, and the motion picture really gives you a far better idea about the size of the thing, than still photos.

Very nice, thanks for posting.

One thing that surprised me when I first saw the DB engine inside the Bf109, was how much more modern it looks that the Merlin.

The Merlin looks very much like you would expect a 1940's engine to look. The DB60X looks like a modern F1 engine.

From 5.08s on this video, listen to Tony Biancci singing its praisies...look how beatifully everything fits.

I dont know if hes comparing it to an old MkI/II/V/IX airframe, however. Maybe the later, upgraded MkVII/VIII/XIV airframe would be more smooth/well made like the BF109F/G/K. I dont know to be honest.

From wikipedia...

'Mk XII..[introduced] October 1942.......Another important feature of the Griffon engine Spitfires was the entirely flush-riveted finish which was progressively introduced on all Spitfires'
