re-map it, Ctrl+E is for LOMAC

Just wanted to know if anybody had a similar experience I had a few days ago....

Was exploring the Lvov map at low level in MiG~3 and decided to bail, sorry, EJECT, and I pulled up high and I hit one of the horizontal stabilizers on the way out, external view showed MiG lost tail fin and of course player killed and all that. That was neat.

Another time I bailed out of something (forgot) and something happened to tangle my chute and it didn't open all the way I came down fast and, player killed.

These are some neat stuff.

Is this 1.2? My guy just goes through the plane when I eject....

Wow yea I dont have 1.2 and my pilot just goes thru plane too,

Please conffirm is there more bailout realism in 1.2beta?

I have 1.2,but I haven't had to bail,so I don't know if "pilot collision" is a new feature or just a fluke.

Thanx! You guys just made me have to find a way to repeat this at will, and I did! No coincidence I first noticed it at very LOW altitude, it is a interesting mixture of events...parachute opening soon after pilot leaves cockpit (because of low altitude), aircraft going slow and rotating and so not going far from escaped pilot. These are exactly the conditions in the Lvov bail where I first noticed this.

The pilot does pass through the plane on the way out, but very quickly the pilot becomes a game object distinct from the aircraft, thus if they collide *after* the bailout code is executed, then you have a collision. Also, aircraft colliding with the quickly opening parachute happens more than aircraft colliding with pilot. But I got that to happen once just now.

Below is simple "mission." As soon as you are in cockpit, throttle to zero, full landing flaps, and good pullup to the vertical. At 100km/hr, BAIL. But before you bail, roll the aircraft hard, it seems rolling wingtips have a better chance of colliding with chute or pilot later. The point is to make the aircraft and bailing pilot stay near each other for as long as possible. Also, it seems that after you "bail" you can still control the aircraft for a few seconds before the pilot leaves the cockpit. Keep pushing the stick over.

I tried about 20 tries, and 4 of them the chute was damaged and pilot killed on touching ground. In one case the MiG lost an aileron, in another case the chute exploded the MiG into several large burning pieces. (/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif ) In the last case I tried, the pilot himself (myself actually) smacked into the plane and I got player killed at that time, and the chute was damaged too, and the pilot hung head low on the way down.

i collided several times with my own plane, even in the older versions. the thing is to stay long enough near you plane, as said, then youll at first got throught the plane but after a time you will be killed by touching it. id think the bailing needs some adjustment anyway. i mean. did you ever feel the air with a speed of 120kmh flowing right on you? i did and i felt it hard to move my body forward against it. now im flying with my FW190 at 450kmh in il2, press the bail-button and the pilot just hops out of the plane like its standing on ground. in real life you had most likely to roll the plane on its back to be able to bail safely.
but in combat i usally dont bail, rather fight till my plane hits the ground (hey, one time i did a crucial hit on an enemy bomber having only one wing left), so i dont really care.

Hey it happened to me too... lol. I was trying to take a Yak's 6 from high and trough the clouds once he had passed them, and i had a flash of it parachute just in front of my Mig3U... instant death. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I have IL2 non FB, and i should say that the pilot won't bailout if speed is above 200 KM/h... I try to Eject when my plane is very damaged (so that can't make it to the airfield) and out of ammo... and it happened that cockpit gets opened but pilot doesn't bail and everything ends on a deadly crash...

Everything works if i set speed to less than 200 Km/h and then bail. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Regards.
