i have a ge-force 4 ti4200 and when i run on the perfect settings i get a weird water effect in the water when the sun is near the horizon. its like right where the sun is reflecting on the water there are a bunch of brownish rectangles appearing to be beneath the water. it only happens when sunlight is reflected off of the water at long distances like in a sunset or sunrise. does anyone else have this problem and will it be fixed in the patch, cuz it isnt fixed in the beta 08

thx

I also have GEforce4Ti4200, never seen thing like this. Try to download latest Nvidia Driver at http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
It may help/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif and set your antilasning to 4x, and Anisotropic-filtrering to 8x if u have it/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I have an ATI 9500 pro. When I used the latest cat drivers the reflections in the water(mountain, clouds) looked like translucent very light brown boxes.

I went back to cat 3.4 and the problem went away.

You might try different driver versions for your card. The newest is not always the best.

try setting your intelli sample to quality in your gforce properties, you will have a little less fps ( but at perfect who cares as a 4200 isnt that fast anyway ) but my water is perfect in perfect that way ( ti 4600 )

btw its totally playable in perfect at 1024 quincux fsaa in beta 08 for me around 40 to 50 fps in cockpit at 50m

If you get 50 fps in perfect over water at 50m then that's quite some PC.

thanks for ur advice, but nothing seems to work. a better description of this is that the sky reflecting off of the water is really low rez. its really visible at sunset or sunrise, but if u look closely at midday u can see it(really closely).

He is just whoring out his XP2400 to XP3200. Don't expect that CPU to last long and do expect it/mobo to fry.

And he is using Quincux with a GF4 at 1024? Why not just turn off the FSAA and use the 50% better frames to up the resolution instead? Maybe he has an LCD monitor and can't increase the resolution.

Turn off SCT3 texture compression and that effect may go away.

Are you talking about this weird effect?
http://maxonline.net/images/water1.jpg

If yes, i fixed it by playing with settings and bumping hardware anisotropic and anti-aliasing to 4x. I don't remember what i did to fix it. But it doesnt worth the fps loss.

It's like if the water texture is low-res. Because if i reduce the picture sice, you can notice the effects.

its kinda like that on a smaller scale. it is not visible during mid-day. its jsut something that bothers me during evening flights, and i notice when ppl post screens on the forums, they dont have the effect. its only where the sun is reflecting. ill try to post a screen a lil later.

Personnally, i just don't use Perfect anymore, FPS drop by half plus i can't use a too high resolution. The benefits of using excellent settings are too important for me to see some waves on water. Running on excellent give me the opportunity to use higher-res and get more FPS even on object-loaded maps. But i wish you good luck at fixing it. Like i said, i got it once just by playing with different graphic settings and bumping aniso and aa to or over 4x.
