They all got the same engine, the look qiet a bit like each other and they almost have the same armament. So, what do you think and why.

Can't speak as to MC202, yet can on some points as to the 109, and can without question the Ki-61, so between the 2 will mention these points...

Armament the 109 wins with more powerful weapons YET not particularrly better guns...Tough to beat tried and true brownings and vickers.

The engine was better in the 109, yet only due to "manufacturing" quality of both parts and raw material.

Landing gear on the Ki-61 was MUCH more stable.

Range of the Ki-61 was better.

Manuverability I can't say not knowing the 109, yet the Ki-61 was touted as being fairly close to the Ki-43 in its abilities.

Canopy and personally I believe the cockpit was better/easier on the Ki-61.

Cooling I can't say, as Ki-61's had a terrible time in the tropics.

Get someone in here who knows a 109 & MC202, and I can speak to specifics point for point on the Ki-61 to compare.

The MC202 is a very nice bird to fly. It's fast, very manoeuvrable and doesn't stall out as easily as the other two designs. Its weak points is its guns. For ground attack I would go for the German or Japanese designs, but against not too heavily armed fighters (like a Hurricane or Spitfire), the Italian plane would be my choice.

OMG its not like that in game. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif In a Ki-61 I am nothing more than a target. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

T.

(PS: Actually, in MOST planes I am nothing more than a target http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif)

Yes, well that was why the IJAFC placed such high hopes in it....Fast, an increddibly strong diver, well armored, great range, and could turn almost with their best, roll supposedly better (and we've all seen the video of a Ki-43 snap rolling, though nothing here rolls like you'd think)....Only real short coming as with all IJAFC planes was its guns.

In many ways I did not discuss it was much more advanced then the 109, others lacking.....Yet in the end poor manufacturing quality of its engine and support systems (like fuel solenoids) did it in.

Personally, though they all share the same engine essentially, the Ki-61 & MC202 IMLTHO were NOT based upon the 109......they were based on this;

I can't really say which is the best outta the three. All three are pretty good performers in their respective plane sets.In fact, aren't all three in the same year set?I think so http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

BF you are so correct! IMHO

Ya all others based theres on a cast off plane from the Reich. (Cast off only for political reasons) but thats another discussion entirely.

Isn't somebody going to post some charts and quote some flight test results ?
