Hi all,

My MS Force-Feedback died and I was wondering if it could be repaired. It ended by vibrating uncontrollably to starboard and locked.

For the past 3 years it has served me well and I am a rather reluctant to say 'good bye'.

Any advice would be appreciated http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Wooot, this ends the myth that MSFFB2s are indestructible within 10 years of heavy use. Maybe this is why several MSFFB2 owners boast at least 1, but sometimes 2 spare sticks in their closet...

My advice: take it to a repair station for joysticks, it has to be opened as a start, vibration means it may be still alive, but needs intensive care before any further use.

Vibration like this could be caused by fluttering input signal from the angle detector on the Y axis, which the stick internal logic tries to compensate for with the FFB motors. if you're lucky, it will be a loosened wire, or contaminated optics, both cheap and easy to fix. If you are unlucky, you may have to change parts in it, but then look for other dead MSFFB2s on the flea-market, and get some replacement parts from them.

JS repair is sketchy at best unless done by someone 'in the know'. I'd suggest using this as perfect justification to upgrade...CH!

Make sure its not software .. I know you probably have done that already http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.. Anyway have a look at fixing it yourself or getting it fixed .. either by a friend or anyone I guess .. you could also try ebay for a replacement but I have no idea if they actually sell on there so just a suggestion..

Good Luck!!

The insides of the stick are not that complicated, but I would try reinstalling your drivers first.
